Minister Training

We believe that ALL Believers are Called of God to be Ministers of Jesus Christ!

Ephesians 4:1-3

1 ¶ I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,
2 ¶ With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;
3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

Paul here is begging the Ephesians to seek out and walk in the ‘vocation’ that they are called to.  A ‘vocation’ is a job or position that one holds.  In the world a vocation would be considered a job of a doctor, teacher, lawyer, plumber and the list goes on.  Keep in mind that a being a ‘student’ is not a vocation!  One does not ‘have’ a vocation until he or she ‘graduates’ from the school, university or apprenticship program that he or she has entered into.  Then they enter into the vocation that they chose or were called to.

Ephesians 4:11-12

11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

In the Kingdom of God, vocations are as follows:

  1. Apostles
  2. Prophets
  3. Evangelists
  4. Pastors
  5. Teachers

Ephesians 3:1-5

1 ¶ For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles,
2 If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you–ward:
3 How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words,
4 Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ)
5 Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;

It is the job or ‘vocation’ of the Apostles and Prophets to Perfect the Saints.  It is to them that the ‘mystries of Christ are revealed’.

The job or ‘vocation’ of the Evangelists and Pastors is the Work of the Ministry.  The Evangelist brings them into the ‘Church’, Body of Christ and the Pastor feeds and ministers to them as a shepherd.

And finally the ‘vocation’ of the teacher is to Edify the Body of Christ, The Church.

Ephesians 4:13

13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

This outline of Church Authority through the Vocations that God has Ordained to The Church was and is to remain in effect until all of the conditions of verse 13 are fulfilled!  It doesn’t take a Rocket Scientist or Greek and Hebrew Scholar to know and understand that we have not reached that place yet.

In fact, Paul makes it clear what will happen if his system is not followed!

Ephesians 4:14

14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

The sad thing is:  This is exactly where The Church is today!  With all of the different denominations and teachings going on, it is no wonder that people are confused and don’t know what to believe.  They even have so many different ‘translations’ of the Bible out there and they all contradict one another, where confusion in The Body of Christ is the RULE not the exception.

Ephesians 4:15-16

15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

This is where The Church is supposed to be, but sadely, it is far from it.

Paul’s commandment to The Church is simple:

Ephesians 4:17-24

17 ¶ This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,
18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:
19 Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.
20 But ye have not so learned Christ;
21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:
22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

My purpose here is not to give a long teaching or sermon, but to stress the importance to good, sound, Bible based teaching to those who seek to enter into the Ministry of Jesus Christ.  Our only text book is God’s Word!  As we have stated in our Articles of Faith, we believe that God’s Word to us today is the 1611 King James Bible.  I remember praying and asking The Lord years ago, which ‘translation’ of the Bible could be trusted to be of Him.  After much time in prayer, these words came to me:  “Find the one without the copyright”!  How Simple is THAT?!?

Have you been sitting in the Church to long?  Have you been a ‘pew warmer’?  Have you felt that God is calling you to more that just being a ‘student’?  Have you felt that there was more to being a Christian than just going to ‘church’?  Well, if you have read this and can answer ‘yes’ to any of those question, then you NEED to contact us at The Fishermen Ministry and find out how we can help you become all that God has for you to be.
