Thou shalt have no other gods before me. You can look at it that you don’t serve Mohammed of Buddha, but if you go even deeper, what is most important to you? Is it your husband, child, work, pet? Whatever comes first in your life is what is your god.
You can work your job and still put Jesus first, but if you don’t witness to someone at work because you may lose your job then your job is your god.
Jesus has to be first with everything that you do. If He is first, He will take care of everything else.
The Lord our God is ONE God. The first commandment shows how we are to be and that we are to put Him first.
Be obedient to the Word and your authorities because they are put there to guide you and lead you in how to follow the Lord and put Him first.
To be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
