Subject:

  • Looking at the Epistle of Paul the Apostle to the Ephesians ( the book of Ephesians ) There are a couple of prayers that Paul prays that are powerful prayers that we also can pray for others and for ourselves. The first prayer starts in chapter 1:17. Read the verses for yourselves. Some simple notes on these verses are as follows:
  • Verse 17. The spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him is something we all could use and should desire having. The wisdom to know God.
  • Verse 18. That our eyes would be opened to recognize the things that are spiritual.
  • Verse 19. It is because of the mighty working power of God that we see is why we can believe.
  • Verse 20. The power of God was in Christ that was the manifestation of His power to those who believed.
  • Verse 21 and 22. These verses are a description of what the manifestation of Gods power is.
  • The end of vs 22 and the beginning of 23 CLEARLY states that the church is the body of Christ. Many are taught that the church is the bride of Christ. This is not true. There are other places in scripture that also make this clear.  Colossians 1:18
  • Even after a person has received the Lord and chosen to follow Him, one must continue to remember that they are still no better than one who has not. Don’t look down on those who aren’t there yet and think that you are now special. Remember, before coming to the Lord, you also spent a time in your life fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind. You were in the same place that they still are now. Have mercy and patience with people.
  • God is rich in mercy and in Love. Even when we are dead in sin God can quicken us together with Christ and by His grace are we saved.
  • Choose to stand in the Victory of Jesus Christ. He has already obtained that victory over death that we can partake in. Nothing will ever take that victory from Him.
  • We are saved by the grace of God. NOT of ourselves and NOT by works. This is probably one of the toughest things for us to get through our head because of pride. We CANNOT “earn” our way into Heaven. It is a gift of God.
  • Moving on to chapter 3:13 we will look at another prayer that Paul lays out that we also can partake in. Again, what follows are some simple notes to the actual verses.
  • Verse 13-16. Paul desired that the faithful and the saints at Ephesus would not faint at his tribulations for them. For this cause he bowed his knees unto God the father that He would grant them to be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man. We all need to be strengthened by the Spirit of God whether we know it or not.
  • Verses 17-19. The carnal man will not be able to comprehend to know the Love of Christ. The breadth, and length, and depth, and height of His love is bigger than we can know. Paul prays that Christ may dwell in their hearts by faith and being rooted and grounded in love they may be able to comprehend. We need to know the love of Christ and it is possible.
  • Verses 20-21. God is able to do things for us that exceeds all that we could ask or think. God is so much more than what our minds are even capable of shows us just how little we are. All glory goes to God. Never to man.
  • Remember that these two prayers can be prayed for yourself and you can pray them for others. They are not limited to Paul only.
