TFM-Hour-of-TruthSpeakers:

  • Paul Muller
  • Phillip Walthall
  • James Eutsler

Scriptures used:

  • Philippians 3: 7-17
  • 1 Peter 5:5
  • James 1:2-3
  • Philippians 2:2-4

Subject:

  • The enemy will work against any attempt you make to draw closer to God.  Satan is looking to kill, steal, and destroy and do whatever it takes to keep a soul away from God.  You must fight, by faith, to overcome that enemy (satan and the flesh) and continue forward to seek God.
  • Christianity is not about looking good to others and doing works to look important to please God.  It is about having a personal relationship with the creator and being reconciled back to God.
  • God pulled you out of the snare of death and delivered you and that is to be a testimony to others of the power and goodness of God so people will know that He is real and can work mighty works in people.
  • Paul the Apostle counted all his worldly gain as dung because he wanted the things that Jesus had for him instead.  Worldly possessions (material things, education, glorification of people, etc.) are a big part of what we hold as being more important than Jesus.  Do you have possessions or do they have you?  Are they holding you back from the better things that Jesus has for you?
  • Doing works to gain your own righteousness is worth absolutely nothing.  We have no righteousness of ourselves.  The only righteousness there is of God and can only be obtained through faith.
  • God wants us to know Him and wants to reveal Himself to us and the power of His resurrection.  He wants us to have life with Him.
  • Jesus is all that matters.  There is no other religion that offers the chance to know God and His ways.
  • Forget about all the things that are in the past and take the opportunity today to press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.  Keep pressing (putting in the effort) to get everything you can get from God until He says enter in thou good and faithful servant.
  • Look to the elders of the church for guidance for they obtain the experience of walking in Christ and have gone through what you’re going through now and are able to help you.  Receive that help and council from them for your sake.
  • Esteem others as being better than yourself, putting others before yourself, realizing that you are in greater need of Gods grace and mercy than anybody else.  With this attitude it will keep you from judging others and looking down your nose at them.  Look up to people, not down at them.  Remember, you are no better than anybody else.  We are ALL born into sin and we are all guilty and fall short of the glory of God.  We all have only one way out; Jesus Christ.
  • We are to be like-minded with Christ.  In order to do that we must put off our old mind.  The mind of that old man and its ways and have a new mind that seeks after the things of God instead of the things of the world.
