Speakers:
- Steven Atherton
- Scott Bishop
Scriptures used:
- 2 Timothy 3
- Galatians 5
Subject:
- Receiving and Believing. An Online Bible search for the word receive showed it comes up +341 times and the use of the word believe shows up +240 times.
- We have to empty ourselves of ourselves before we can receive: our thoughts, how we think things should happen.
- Getting rid of “stuff” is easy, getting rid of the stuff between our ears seems harder, until you surrender and ask the Lord for help.
- Learn to lean on Jesus.
- In the last days: not referring to the last days of the earth.
- The Global 2000 report written in 1980: says we should be underwater by now. Looking at scripture, there are still more than 1000 years left for the earth.
- Faith worketh by love. Most people think they do love. But this is felios love, loving themselves so they get love back.
- Jesus died for us, went to hell because he loves us agape, not felios.
- People today are covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers. They operate in opposition to the Word of God.
- They are disobedient to parents – again disregarding the Word.
- Un-thankful, unholy: not thankful for what the Lord has done and not separated unto the Lord.
- As they justify themselves in these things they hate those who are the Lord’s. They like to look “holy” after the flesh.
- In contrast, Jesus had no form or comeliness but had the Power of God.
- The Galatians turned back to the law to justify themselves and to express their self love, not to serve God, as they said they were doing.
- If you do this, God shall profit you nothing: you are not saved, you are going to hell.
- You are fallen from grace if you keep the law. Those who don’t want to believe think they can do it all, justifying and loving themselves.
- If you are going to serve God, get shed of the old man and put on the new man by faith.
- You did run well – what happened? You gave place to the things of the flesh.
- Don’t bite and devour one another: this is a real thing that happens in the fellowship. It is our job to love people, not please them.
- If you are walking after the flesh, you are not pleasing God.
- It takes effort to not agree with the carnal man.
- The fruit of the spirit is love. Look up and study the meanings of these words. They are all based in love for one another.
