TFM-TexasSpeakers:

  • Steve Atherton
  • Bob Hicks

Scriptures Used:

  • Hebrews 13:1
  • Luke 16:10
  • Ephesians 4:11-13

Subject:

  • Let brotherly love continue… that word let is to allow.
  • Jesus loves us, why then can we not, if He is in us, love one another?
  • Allow brotherly love (that love of God) to continue in and through His body to one another.
  • We don’t have it (that brotherly love) by nature!  But He puts it in us and because He puts it in us we can allow that love that He puts in us to continue.  It’s not something that we can do without Him.  But if we will allow Him to, if we will yield to the love that He has for each of us, then we can’t help but love one another.
  • Brotherly love in Hebrews 13:1 is love to our brothers and sisters in the Christ Jesus.
  • If Jesus loves you, then I need to love you with the same love He loves you with.
  • Hebrews 13:2 is about care for, not neglect, the strangers sent to you.  Show them kindness.  It is pleasing to the Lord.
  • Strangers and angels is talking about old testament prophets and new testament apostles.  Just an ordinary person who you don’t know, nobody of any note.  This is not talking about Barrack Obama and Donald Trump, because they are not strangers, and they come in with people making sure you do no harm to them.
  • The inclination on your part to not neglect but care for strangers, then when He has sent one of His in that you don’t know, you’ll have taken care of them in a manner that is pleasing to Him.
  • Hebrews 13:3 is about those in the body.  When sickness is in your body you’re very aware of it and it’s hard to miss.  It’s very much on your mind.  That’s the same way it ought to be when any member of the body of Christ is suffering something.
  • Count it all joy when you fall into divers temptations is not comfortable and it is usually embarrassing.  The reason we are to count it joy is because the trying of our faith worketh patience.  Our faith is in the Gospel – that Jesus Christ died for my sins.  When you fall, you’ve fallen into sin and you count it all joy is it strengthens your faith in that which saves you.  (Not that you won’t fall into it again, but Jesus died for my sins!)  You should learn from the previous sins and not ignore them, but we count it all joy because it brings us back to the fundamental thing which is that sacrifice that Jesus made.
  • Are you faithful in the least?  In a manner that would be abundantly pleasing to the Lord?
  • Excuses are like vomit.  Putrid and disgusting to think about and look at, but yet we think we’re fine and make a bunch of excuses.
  • Don’t let those things of the Lord be lost.  Listen, read those things you are given to you to read and hear be lost.
  • Faithfulness versus unjust, which one do you want to be?
