  • John 3:16-21
  • Proverbs 3:5-12
  • 2 Corinthians 9:6-12
  • Matthew 6:5-6

Subject:

  • Do you want more?  Most of the things we want more of are not what we need.   At times we want more but we don’t get it, we need to go back to the basics.
  • Go back to the Bible to see the basics of our job. When we do our job God rewards us with everlasting life.
  • He that believeth on Him is not condemned but he that does not believe on Him is condemned already because of his unbelief.
  • This is the basis that gives the hope, the chance, the ability to serve the Lord, to walk with the Lord, to be a friend to the Lord.
  • You reap what you sow. If you’re sowing hatred, pride, jealousy and strife you will get a lot more of it. But if you’re sowing love, grace and peace you will get a lot more of that.
  • What kind of harvest are you reaping? If you plant a radish and you don’t get a radish, it’s not the seed you planted.
  • We are weak but He is strong, we are ignorant but He is wise. We think and do wrong but He is holy and always does the right thing. We need to put all of our trust in Him.
  • My sons were climbing one day and I was busy, facing away from them, when I heard, “Daddy catch me!” so I dropped what I had and caught him. I asked him, what were you thinking, why did you jump?” And he said, “because you’re my Dad.”  He trusted because I was near and he yelled that I would catch him.
  • We have a heavenly Father and we can trust Him and should trust Him. “Honor the LORD with thy substance”, and “despise not the chastening of the LORD”, are both ways we can show that we trust God.  The proof of our faith, our trust in the Lord should be seen in our deeds, how we live, our reaction to adversity.
  • We must be reaping the things of God because if we’re not we aren’t sowing them.
  • Our giving also shows how much we trust the Lord . Do we trust Him to provide for us, to give us yet more increase.  Tithing is showing God we trust Him to provide for us.
  • As Corrie ten Boom said, ”Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God.”
  • What is a light switch?  It is a device that is usually on a wall or a lamp and when you flip it the lights come on.
  • What most people miss when they read Matthew 6: 5-6 is when you go into your closet (to pray) and shut the door it gets dark. It is symbolic – when you walk in this world and seek to walk after the flesh, you’re walking in darkness. But there is a light switch in that closet and if you take the time to flip that switch the light will come on and you’ll no longer be in darkness.
  • When you’re going through troubles and tribulations that’s a type of darkness but there’s a light switch, it’s called prayer. It’s called getting into that closet and glorifying and magnifying the Lord and giving Him praise and glory and thanking Him for your life and all that He has blessed you with and will bless you with.
  • All of a sudden the light comes on and those burdens, worries, frustrations and all that other garbage that you allow yourself to go through will disappear because the light will drive them off.
  • You put yourself in darkness, God does not put you in darkness, and He’s given you the light switch but you have to turn it on.
  • You think you’re in darkness sometimes, let me tell you about a man who was in true darkness – the life of Jesus Christ in His last days when He was beaten, and He was crucified, and He was mocked, and He died on that cross and He descended into hell – that’s darkness.  But when they put Him in that tomb and shut that door that’s the darkest of darknesses yet He turned on the light and that light shined in that darkness so bright and He came up out of that and was resurrected unto eternal life so that we will have the promise of being resurrected as He was, if we believe the light, if we trust that light.
  • Jesus is the light that shineth in the world. He lighteth every man and woman that enters into the world.
  • You have the light, all you have to do is turn it on.   You can live in darkness if you want to. I am not going to live in darkness, I’m going to live in the light.  If you’re going to live around me there’s going to be light. If you don’t like the light don’t be around me. But if you love the light as I love the light then let’s walk in the light together.
  • Donny was so excited because he was thinking about the light switch and the closet and all of a sudden God showed him the tomb.   And when he realized the power in that light he knew that all his problems could vanish in a heartbeat if he allowed himself to be saturated in that light.  How about you, can you do that?   I hope you will.
