TFM-Northfield-VermontSpeakers:

  • Steven Atherton
  • Carrie Cannon

Scriptures used:

  • Proverbs 3
  • Joshua 23:1-13
  • 1 Peter 5:1-9
  • John 3:16-20

Subject:

  • Be thankful for the provision of the Lord.
  • In the world there is no hope.
  • Evil is gaining ground. Our job is to fight against it.
  • In order to walk in that place we have to give our lives over to the Lord.
  • The Lord brings us out of those bad places, and saves our lives.
  • We can’t see ahead, we walk by faith. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Trust the Lord with all thine heart. That is what faith in the Lord is.
  • The children of Israel were the expression of complete and total submission to Joshua.
  • In Joshua 23 Joshua was old and well stricken in age. He tells the people they have seen what the Lord has done for them.
  • He says not to even make mention of other nations’ gods. Think about today and how that is the opposite.  If you’re doing what Joshua says, you will be considered narrow minded.  “No man hath been able to stand before you this day” because of the submission to Joshua.  Think about the humility it takes to do this! You cannot think you have a better idea!
  • Are people narrow minded or broad minded today? They perceive the narrow minded as stupid.
  • The term sophisticated is from a people called, Sophists. It used to be an insult to be called sophisticated. Through pride we encourage sophistication today in the world.
  • Most of the first colleges founded in the United States were to train missionaries. Then they became broad minded, sophisticated and worthless.
  • Sophisticate – to adulterate; to corrupt; to pervert – 1828 Websters dictionary
  • One man shall chase a thousand for the Lord your God, He it is that fighteth for you.
  • He gives those that believe on Him power.
  • Elisha came against the whole army of Syria, who were broad minded; he was not afraid because he knew the Lord was with him.
  • If you go back and cleave to these nations, know for a certainty that they will be thorns in your eyes until he perish from off this good land which the Lord God hath given you.
  • Did they stay with the Lord? No, they turned and didn’t cleave to Lord, they wanted the Lord to cleave to them.
  • Feed the flock of God: they don’t want to be fed; they won’t come unto the light because their deeds are evil. They don’t want to be accountable.
  • We have righteousness of God as a free gift from Him. By grace, not by our works.
  • Everything today is about making people comfortable in the place they’re in. They are in a bad place, let them get uncomfortable to get free!
  • There is one who died for you, but you have to turn. You can’t keep going that way because others are doing it. That doesn’t make it ok!
  • Cast all your care upon Him for He careth for you.
  • It’s all or nothing. His ways or your ways. Get rid of your ways!
  • Don’t let fear rule you!
