- Hebrews 12:1-11
Subject:
- Jesus always had communication with the Father.
- Romans 12:3 says we all have the same measure of faith. When Jesus died on the cross all sin came upon Him. The Father departed from Him because He couldn’t look upon sin.
- Think of the faith it took to be willing to go through what Jesus went through for our sakes.
- How many times do I choose to cut off communication with the Father.
- As faith increases those times will be less and less.
- Times of trials and tribulations are coming. Put faith in the Lord, knowing He will get us through.
- He has demonstrated to us that He is faithful.
- A soldier marches, the Lord teaches endurance. This is where we learn to have confidence in Him.
- Take the training and apply it to the things in our lives.
- As He boils our faith and purifies us, we get more faith in Him.
- Jesus did what He was called to do. If He didn’t He would have let the others down that looked ahead to His crucifixion and resurrection.
- Genesis 15: God gives Abram His promise. Abram wants a sureness. A deep sleep and a great horror of darkness separated Him from the Lord. A type and shadow of Jesus on the cross.
- When we are redeemed we are redeemed out of this world and back to our Creator. The rules of the world no longer apply to us.
- We are recruited into God’s army when we are redeemed by the blood of the Lamb.
- We trade in our uniform for a new one.
- The battle is fought in the mind, no matter what kind of battle. We encounter difficulties we don’t want to continue in. When we keep on battling it gets easier.
- The walk of faith is similar to that.
- Hebrews 11:6, without faith it is impossible to please Him. We have to go forward and walk by faith.
- Our fathers in the Lord are those who ministered the Word to us. Listen to that person who ministered The Lord to you.
- Hebrews 13:17 – Obey those who have the rule over you.
- Soldiers: obey those over you to save your life!
- There is a line of authority in the military for your protection, as with the line of authority in the Lord.
- Jesus became a cursed thing, separated from his Father. Jesus was made perfect by sufferings.
- Hebrews 12:3: strengthen your will, your mind is the place where you make the choice to choose God. God worked with David, etc. so they could endure the hardness to perfect their faith.
- God doesn’t cast us off if we fail.
- Hebrews 12:4 – sweating blood in the garden of Gethsamane.
- Despise not the chastening of the Lord – even though it makes our natural man angry.
- Chastening is a part of getting free of the old man.
- Embrace the new way of living. Chastening occurs through the line of authority, it is for our good. Humility is required. Listening to others is required, even listening to those below you so that you can work together. You should be able to hear from anyone.
- Everyone will be chastened! If you are not chastened you are a bastard and not a son.
- We can’t be trusted with the weapons without going through this process.
