Subject:

  • The way our flesh works is often like a coin.  The head  – gets the attitude of how good we are.
  • Sometimes we’re the tail, we wonder how the Lord can even love us.  The head of the coin is as far away as the tail as it can be.
  • We forget who we are.  We really are that tail.  When we get to the tail point of our feelings, we forget that we have a better way.
  • The flesh is that coin.  My face is on that coin.  The carnal things that I deal with.
  • How often are we like the Pharisees who want to hang onto those coins and not let them go – the carnal things.  Because it glorified them.
  • We’re going to be tossed to and fro as long as we are that coin.  We are to walk away from that coin and render unto God the things that are God’s.
  • An example of showing the love of Christ.  Being justified and righteous in ourselves?  It doesn’t matter how people treat you.  We are to love them regardless.  The scripture says “be perfect, even as your Father in Heaven is perfect.”
  • We  justify ourselves and walk away when people treat us wrong, but the love of  Jesus in heaven is the only thing that matters.
  • The seed that fell among thorns:  you receive the Word and then forget it.  Because we look away from God and look at ourselves.
  • We are to stand up in His body and take our place in His Body.  We have a lot to learn, but this is the starting place when we receive Christ and choose to know only Him and His sufficiency.
  • Our place in His Body has been granted us by His blood.
  • When we cast our cares upon Him and know the Word, and then fall, it doesn’t take us away from that place.
  • We see others’ unbelief and how they try to justify themselves, and realize it is in ourselves also.
  • We have to rest in the Gospel and realize there is no justification for our flesh.
  • The fact that I haven’t gotten to that place in Jesus doesn’t mean I won’t.  Trusting the Lord and knowing that His blood gave us that right.  We are to displace our own thoughts and replace them with what God said.
  • Striving lawfully is believing the Word of God and standing up in His Word, and putting off everything that exalts itself against it.
  • When the things of the flesh come against us we can war against them, each day.  We can, through Christ Jesus.
  • Paul preached the Gospel in Word and deed, and depending upon the Word himself.  This takes lots of humility.  Not to justify ourselves but to be found in Him.
  • We will be pleasing to God if we don’t justify ourselves, but rest in Him.
  • Then we can minister the love of God to people, no longer walking in our flesh.
  • We can have compassion on one another, and we need to exhort one another in Christ Jesus.
