Speakers:

  • Robin Atherton
  • Karen Hocker
  • Megan Atherton

Scriptures used:

  • Romans 1:1-19

Subject:

  • This book is written to fellow believers in Rome, who have not met Paul in person yet.
  • He introduces himself as a servant of Christ.
  • He writes this to build them up in faith and what is true.
  • Paul was called by God as an Apostle only because he was a seed of God. When Paul came into agreement with God he was separated unto the Gospel of God.
  • Servant is a bond slave: one who was a servant were allowed to go free as a free man, instead they chose to stay and serve their master for the rest of their life. Paul was this to Jesus.
  • Jesus, being Paul’s master took care of him and provided him with all his needs.
  • The perfecting of the saints is through the Apostles and Prophets.
  • The Gospel was promised in the Old Testament and is now fulfilled. The prophesy was given to the Jews but the majority of the them rejected it, and now is made available for all.
  • Mary was of the seed of David, which was in agreement with the Word of God in the Old Testament.
  • Jesus was the only person that ever lived that raised themselves from the dead, death could not hold Him!
  • Paul was called by Jesus, empowered by the Holy Spirit and received the grace, that he might minister the obedience of the faith for Jesus Christ.
  • It was set up that way for the people’s sake.
  • The Lord always backs up His word with power.
  • Why are the Romans beloved of God? Because they believed God. Called to be saints. We are called to be saints.
  • We have a hope in Him through His sacrifice that made salvation 100 percent possible.
  • We need to accept His provision with out begrudging it. There is nothing that is right in our old man, but if we believe Him we can be made acceptable to Him.
  • Choose to be acceptable by the blood of the Lamb and it’s sufficiency.
  • We can walk by faith, we can trust the Lord, He has given us grace to be able to become saints.
  • When we know ourselves, it is an amazing thing that God would want us to be His.
  • It is the Lord’s will for all to be saved, we have to choose it. He has invited all the seed of Adam.
  • Paul thanks God for these people because of their choice to believe. It was not a hidden thing, the world knew about it.
  • Our Master’s business is for the redemption of all who will hear.
  • Serving the Lord is done in the Spirit not in the flesh. Paul served with his spirit.
  • It is important for the believers to continue to get ministered to, to continue in the faith.
  • We are built up by the fact that our Apostle is a servant of God. It is for the people’s sake that they continue to minister to them.
  • Believers are comforted together by one another’s faith. When we come together with other Saints or Apostles it is a blessing to all. There is a comfort in the mutual faith.
  • God in His goodness has given us Apostles.
  • We know the truth because it has been rightly ministered unto us. It is  only in the truth that we are established in Christ Jesus. Steadfastly set!
  • It would be difficult if we had no brethren or authorities in the Lord.
  • Paul wanted the people to know they do matter.
  • Greeks were educated and the Barbarians were the mass of less educated people, and Paul says he is given for all them, there is no respecter of persons.
  • Not being ashamed of the gospel of Christ means, we are sinners and the only reason we are reconciled, is because Jesus Christ died for me, because there was no good thing in me and not being ashamed to claim that personally.
  • Abraham was a sinner yet he believed God for the perfect Lamb to pay the price for them. Many in the Old Testament knew this and were saved by it.
  • The only way to be just is to live by that faith.
  • Holding the truth in unrighteousness is saying this is the truth and mixing it with works or adding to it. It will be worst for them who do this then it was for Sodom and Gomorrah.
  • God is willing to clothe us in His righteousness, it is up to each individual to receive it.
