Subject:

  • The person who wrote this Psalm was completely for the Lord. He knows the word and his prayer is unto God to quicken that word. His cry is for the Lord to quicken him and teach him in the knowledge of God’s ways. He studies the word and his desire is to apply the word.
  • We need to know the word because it is true. When we choose the truth we become partakers of that truth. The word is alive and we can partake of that life. When we read this Psalm you can see this man’s dependence upon the Lord.
  • Take heed; listen, choose it and do it.
  • There is the possibility if we choose the Lord He will direct us to keep His statutes and to know what pleases Him or how not to sin against
  • Him. It is a recognition of ones frailty and dependence upon God.  God wants to be our God and work His work in us.
  • Recognize in ourselves, how easy it is to get side tract. We can turn from getting side tract once we recognize we do it. It can end up being something we turn from then something that just happens.
  • When we seek the Lord as this Psalmist does and rely on Him we will come to that place where we respect the Lord’s word and statutes.
  • When we know what pleases the Lord, we are going to walk in His ways.
  • Stop looking at the things of the world and choose to look at the wonderful things of the Lord, as we choose  to do that the rest of it kind of disappears.
  • We need to learn how to choose the Word and do the Word. There is no pride in it no vengeance it’s a joy! It is God’s desire for us to partake of all that is good.
  • To Abraham the Lord was his portion. There is a great testimony of that to this day.
  • They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength.
  • God’s people are just people and they can grow weary and lose hope. To have people who would stay true to the gospel is an encouragement for those who may grow weary.
  • The Psalmist here is asking God to renew him. Which is a right prayer.
  • The Lord’s word is true and he will never forsake His children. This is a picture of what one of His children look like.
  • He understood the word because he kept the word. We show our faith by our works.
  • This person as we should be meditates on the word constantly throughout the day, being about His word in total, knowing what it is and doing it.
  • There is not presumption in this, he knows his place and that  he is not God’s equal.
  • A soul can only make a boast in the Lord when the Lord has given life unto that soul and that soul knows it.
  • He wants to know the ways of the Lord.
  • When you know the word and have it dwelling in your heart and  truly desire the things of Him they will come to pass. Being able to put off all else not of Him is possible and a true deliverance.
  • We are very easily all about ourselves and when we are there is covetousness. Our deliverance and the new way that has been offered to us is Jesus. He washes it all away and is gone for good!
  • We can only serve one master! The Lord or the world.
  • We need to have a hope like this Psalmist.
  • As we grow in confidence in Him the knowledge of the truth remains with us more and more.
  • No matter what comes against us we need to choose Him.
  • We look back and know of salvation.
  • A person who knows their hope is in the Lord.
  • There is an inheritance in the Lord that we don’t see and don’t touch but can know if we will choose to know the Lord.
  • What are we going to choose? The word is true but it does us no good if you don’t believe it.
  • Don’t get hung up about where your at, keep your eyes on the Lord.
  • The word are truly sweeter than honey! It is the best inheritance.
  • It doesn’t matter if we know another living soul but know the Lord, that is good and if He knows us, that is good.
