Scriptures used:
- Luke 16
- Psalm 138:2
- Proverbs 3:5-7
Subject:
- The story of the unjust steward. He wasted his lord’s goods, and knew he was going to be kicked out of the stewardship. He didn’t care, he continued to waste his lord’s goods.
- He was called wiser than the children of light, he was considered wise in the ways of the world, which are unjust. Jesus was using sarcasm in this verse.
- We all have servanthood to others’ goods. We all have responsibilities for things not our own. If we’re not faithful even in those little things how can we be trusted with the greater things?
- Abraham gave Lot the choice of land, and Lot chose the easy and best land, which didn’t end up serving him well at all.
- God’s word is unchangeable , is true and stands forever.
- Jesus is the only one who was just, through perfect obedience to His Father.
- No servant can serve two masters. This is the double minded man as described in James chapter 1.
- Who are you going to serve?
- Love the Lord your God with ALL your heart, soul, mind, and strength.
- Proverbs 3:5-7, though a beautiful scripture, sheds a light on how hypocritical we can be. We need to repent and choose to serve God fully with all of our might.
- The story of Lazarus and the rich man. Lazarus was a man of faith. He went to heaven and the rich man, in hell, wanted to have his family members warned. There is no way to make someone repent even though one went unto them from the dead. Jesus rose from the dead and still people didn’t believe and were not saved. They still rejected.
- The graves were opened after His resurrection. The veil ripped when He finished paying the price for our sin.
