Subject:

• The parable of the unjust judge.  How much more would the Lord do for those who pray to Him?  We need to believe God and take Him at His Word.  Elect Him as our God.
• The parable of the Pharisee and the Publican.    Interesting that this is a parable for certain who trusted in themselves.   A Pharisee trusts in himself, is self righteous and justified in himself but going to hell.  The Publican kept it simple, not justifying himself but declaring himself to be a sinner and asking for forgiveness.  He was justified by God, not himself.
• We need to go to the Lord as a child, not having the cares of the world about us, but knowing as a child that we have a loving father who we trust will provide all our needs.
• The rich young ruler:   Jesus professes to not be good, the only one that is good is God.  The ruler didn’t commit adultery, kill, steal, bear false witness and honored his father and mother.  (These are the things we consider to be the worst offenses of the 10) but still lacked one thing:  Sell all that he had.  He went away sorrowful.  You cannot serve God and mammon.
• Jesus’s response to him:  it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.  But he also gives hope, saying that all things are possible with God.
• Jesus’s promise to Peter that those who leave parents, house, brethren, wife or children for the Kingdom of God shall receive more in this present time and life everlasting.
• Jesus again tells the disciples of what shall happen to him in Jerusalem – they don’t understand as Abraham did that righteous blood had to be shed for our salvation.  Isaiah 53 and Psalm 22 described Jesus on the cross dying for our sins.
• The blind man who wanted to be healed of his blindness.  The way he kept calling Jesus and asking for mercy, and didn’t let up – he was determined because he knew that Jesus could heal him.  When Jesus asked him what he wanted, he was simple and direct, and received because of his faith.  He immediately glorified and gave praise unto God.
