TFM-Wednesday-Womens-Bible-Study

Speakers:

  • Robin Atherton
  • Megan Atherton
  • Karen Hocker

Scriptures used:

  • 1 John 2
  • 1 Corinthians 13

Subject:

  • John is writing to exhort the believers to love the Lord and love one another.
  • Sin:  miss the mark and so not share in the prize.
  • Read 1 Corinthians 13, this describes love.
  • He exhorts them that they have an advocate with the Father, if they keep His commandments.
  • We KNOW that we know Him if we keep His commandments.  We don’t love Him unless we do what He says.
  • We are to exercise our faith and overcome the wicked one.
  • Choose to not love the world, and the things in it that are “good”.  This is lust and pride.
  • The things of the Lord are eternal, the things of the world are temporary.
  • Stay close to whom God has given to us.  Submit ourselves to them, hear their word to be perfected.
  • When we think we are worthy or think something we do makes us worthy to enter into heaven, we are denying Jesus.
  • But if we abide:  stay, continue, dwell, endure, in Him, we will receive the prize.
  • Don’t be seduced.  You have the Holy Spirit, don’t be moved off of it, stay there.
  • Doing righteousness is submitting and standing and going forth in the Gospel, and bringing it unto others.
