Subject:
- Walking in the Spirit.
- The Fruit of the Spirit.
- Longsuffering.
- A faithful saying is something that is true, worth taking note. Paul saying he is chief sinner, recognizing that if he could obtain mercy from the Lord anyone can.
- Paul’s longsuffering from the Lord came after the acceptance of Jesus Christ as his Savior. Christ showed that pattern so that we can take hope in the longsuffering that God shows to us.
- We are all partakers of the same pattern, the longsuffering of the Lord to us to give us hope. We are to show the same longsuffering to others.
- We as the body ought also to offer longsuffering one to another.
- We should desire to bring people to the knowledge of the truth willing to suffer long as does Christ with us.
- Preach the Word, be instant in season and out of season.
- When we feel like we are the least adequate person in the world to preach the gospel, preach anyway trusting God.
- Doing this with longsuffering which means we don’t give up, trusting in the Lord’s provision and power.
- When we look at Jesus’ walk and that of our own, we can see God’s longsuffering to us. We also can walk as Jesus walked, which was in perfect obedience to God. We don’t generally choose to do so and God is longsuffering toward us to teach us to do so.
- It is priceless to receive the longsuffering and therefore is priceless to give it.
- The offenses of the father does not have to be held against the children, we can choose God in spite of what our parents chose. A great example is the first generation of the Israelites were a rebellious people and therefore did not enter in to the promise land. The second generation even though raised by that rebellious generation were obedient and did enter into the promise land.
- The Lord is longsuffering and of great mercy.
- We are going to be held accountable. Even though the iniquity of the fathers is passed down unto the third and fourth generation, if one will repent and turn fully to the Lord that curse can be stopped.
- We need to allow the Lord to deliver us from the things we learned in our youth that was not of the Lord.
- Choose to believe there is nothing too big for God.
- We can’t stand and blame our parents for where we are today. What are we going to choose? Press forward toward the mark in Christ Jesus or blame our parents for where we are and stay there?
- The character of God, full of compassion, gracious and longsuffering full of mercy and truth. It is true, but we must receive for ourselves.
- David walked in the knowledge that he needed God’s mercy and longsuffering.
- The same sure mercies that David received and depended upon are there for us.
- Truly everything we have comes from the Lord, the goodness of God leads us to repentance.
- He continues in longsuffering until we get it. It is not a removal of the need of Jesus but a standing in our need of Him more and more.
- Do we despise God’s longsuffering?
- A couple examples of the Lord’s longsuffering was in the days of Noah and Sodom and Gomorrah. An example of God’s mercy was Jonah and Nineveh.
- The Lord’s desire is that all would come to repentance. That is why he is longsuffering, He is not slack. He gives great time and space to allow people to come to a place of repentance unto salvation.
- Calling a person to look to God is the answer. We are not God and we are not the answer.
- Praise God His slackness isn’t man’s slackness and that He bears with us.
- The Lord’s hand isn’t shortened, all we need is supplied unto us if we are seeking God.
- What we were and what we can choose this day to be are two entirely different things. At this point the past doesn’t really matter and that is beautiful.
- We are all works in progress and as we change in things we need to allow others also to change. Part of moving forward is recognizing where we are and receiving the correction or reproof and moving forward in it. It’s purpose is to bring us to that perfect faith.
- It is like the round ring process with a horse.
- Avail yourself of the Lord’s mercies.
