Subject:
- When asking the Lord for something, if it is to serve yourself don’t expect to get it, if it is so you can serve Him that is where God can honor your request. It does not mean that the Lord will not give you something to enjoy if you ask for it, as long as it is not going to be harmful to you. Sometimes we ask for something that seems harmless but God sees it differently. Trust that He is right not to give it if you don’t get it.
- It is very tempting to want to look good in front of others and to act like you’re better than others, as the Pharisees did to have glory before men, but that is all the reward you will get. You will have no reward from God. All you will get from God is “I never knew you, depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” (pride) The reward you want is ” Enter in thou good and faithful servant.”
- If you will move forward in the Lord He will not leave you comfortless and without. You will have everything you need to partake in His mercy and walk in His power and have hope in His gospel.
- Those who want to worship God must do it in spirit and in truth. It actually matters to God how He is worshiped but it is not by rituals.
- When you recognize that you have not been walking in the Lord you then have the opportunity to choose to start, and when the old ways start to come around again you get to a point where you don’t want to be there anymore and learn to fight against that old man. The old ways are the path to destruction that you don’t want to be on.
- The hardest part about going after the Lord is giving up your own life. If you get to the point of being able to give up your life and develop a desire to rather have the life Jesus has for you, you’ve done the hard part. Loving our lives is the biggest reason we don’t want to go after the Lord and serve Him. Loving the Lord’s life is eternal life. Our own Life is only temporary here on earth.
- A person will not be able to choose a different way if they have no idea that there is a different way. Thus the importance of spreading the gospel is so people can hear that there is a choice.
