Subject:
- Shew me thy ways oh Lord, teach me thy paths … sounds good when you sing it and when you say it fast, but when you are taught, you are supposed to learn it.
- Jesus commanded His disciples to go and make other disciples and they were to teach them everything Jesus taught and He was to observe them.
- The idea of being a disciple is that you are a student. At some point, you should graduate.
- There are some professional students who never graduate, they just go to school continuously to obtain paper to hang on their walls, yet they cannot accomplish or contribute anything.
- There are Christians who are the same – they go to Church for 5, 10, 15, 20 years and they still just sit around in Church and do nothing, they’re worthless.
- To observe all things means to do all things.
- Heal the sick, cast out devils etc, why is this not taught in the Churches today? Why are the congregation not being taught to go out and do this? Instead they are being told how great and special and fortunate they are.
- The word hate in Luke 14:26 does not mean you want to kill them, it simply means you don’t prefer them. If you do not prefer Christ above your husband, wife, child, mother, father, friend, you cannot be His disciple.
- In Luke 14:33 you see why you cannot be His disciple … you have to forsake (lay down) everything to serve Christ.
- Serving Christ is not a matter of convenience. A slave doesn’t serve his master when it’s convenient, if he thinks he can get away with it, the master will teach him really quickly that he can’t.
- If you wonder why things don’t go right, why you have problems, it boils down to you put yourself and other things before God. You do that which is convenient to you instead of setting your life around what Christ is doing.
- If you’re going to be a Christian, Christ has got to be first and you serve Him at His convenience, not your own.
- Brother Davy shared the testimony of someone he knew who was woken up in the middle of the night and told to call another family and he thought it was too late in the night to call and that family burned to death in a fire because of his disobedience.
- There was a minister who was told for years to go and talk to a man and when asked what he was waiting for he finally went and spoke to the man and the next day the man he visited was dead. You don’t know what your actions will bring.
- We are going to serve the Lord at His convenience, not our own. If it means doing things at times that we don’t feel like doing, it doesn’t matter, we are going to do it anyway. We are going to put God first in our lives and put our lives last. God will take care of our lives when we serve Him.
- When we’re serving Him, He carries the rest of it. Brother Davy has lived it for 40 years and the Lord has never ever ever let him down.
- “I’ll try to do my best”, no, if you do your best then through Christ your best will get better.
- Did your life look like desperation before you came to the Lord?
- Did you see your life as desperate before coming to the Lord or does it seem “normal”?
- Once you come to the Lord you find a joy that you never knew you could have.
- Hope mentioned how when she came to the Lord He blessed her life abundantly over and above anything she could have imagined.
- Linda talked about the blessing she received in the form of a spiritual family when she was willing to surrender to Him.
- Brother Paul said we are continually showing the level of our commitment to doing the Lord’s thing whether we’re cognizant of it or not.
- There is a time when comforting someone is not the right thing to do, because it works against them. If you are about the Lords business you will not be doing that.
- If we are doing the Lords thing the controversy created will work out as we trust Him, but when the controversy arises because we are not paying attention, we need to apologize to the people involved, repent before the Lord and do your best because the best will get better.
- The truth does not testify well against us, but you have to put that off and keep going until your testimony isn’t destroyed by the truth but rather affirmed by the truth.
- Having read about the wrath of God and the children of disobedience, their end is not good, and that is not somewhere we should want to dwell.
- If you’re not speaking the truth of the Word to one another, you’re lying to one another.
- If you interrupt the process of tribulation, you interrupt what the Lord has to teach them. That’s the flesh, the old man, not the way of the Lord. The Lord is trying to teach them His things, His ways so they can do those things He would have them do and observe. Read Romans 5:3.
- This is not a finger-pointing exercise, this is a message for every one of us.
- If you can’t receive correction and instruction and walk on and do those things you were given, then you are serving yourself. Colossians talks about you being dead, so there is only room for you to do His will.
- If you’re not picking up your cross daily and following Him, then you’re not loving or preferring God, you’re preferring yourself.
- Lie not to one another. Re-direct people to the mark. This is how you (agape) love one another, with the truth of the Word.
- Learn His ways so you can do His ways and yield totally to it.
- Sister Robin said that when you really expect the Gospel you deserve the hammer, but the Gospel doesn’t give it to those who receive it in the knowledge that it’s a gift but undeserved.
- People who think God needs us or how much He needs us, that’s how you know people have not digested the Gospel.
- Christ may dwell in your heart by faith. From there you are rooted and grounded in His love, the Gospel, that did not bring the hammer to those who believed.
- The only way you can speak truth one to another in love is by knowing Him. Not by knowing (able to quote) the scriptures, but rather by knowing Him. This is available to all!
- The underlying recognition that this is not in our capability, but it is by faith in His capability.
- The love of God does not want the hammer to fall, but it only comes through Him. You can partake of Him but only when you do it in His spirit, not in yourself.
