Subject:
- Jesus heals the man with the dropsy. Because it was on the Sabbath, the Pharisees and lawyers confronted Him.
- His response to their thoughts. The Pharisees couldn’t respond to His answer.
- The parable of the man bidden to the wedding, and taking the lowest room, not exalting ourselves, but humbling ourselves. The Pharisees loved being exalted in the public places to make them feel important.
- Jesus humbled Himself the most and is exalted the most.
- When you make a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, and the blind, and thou shalt be blessed; for they can’t recompense you. These are the ones the Pharisees will stay away from because in the flesh they are not preferred, but cast out.
- The story of the man with a great supper and sent for the ones he had bidden. They had other things to do; their eyes were set on the world and not on serving the Lord. Then Jesus said to go and call the lame and the blind and compel them to come in. None of the ones that were bidden shall taste of His supper.
- When we come to Jesus we need to hate our father, mother, wife, children and brethren, and our own lives, which means to prefer Him over everyone and everything else – including our own lives.
- We need to take up our cross and come after Jesus – put off the flesh, deny ourselves and accept the consequences of preaching the Gospel and serving the Lord. Count the cost – realize it will not be easy but stand in Him.
- Salt is good, but if the salt have lost his savour – losing savour means become a fool or make as a simpleton, or make foolish. This is what the Churches today are doing – not being salty.
