Subject:
- Taking a look at Hannah, the mother of Samuel, in 1st Samuel you see a women who was barren, unable to have children, cry out to the Lord about this issue she was concerned about and the Lord blessed her and opened her womb to give forth children. The main focus Hannah had was to have a child to offer to the Lord to be His. When we ask the Lord for something it needs to be something the Lord can honor. Something that can be used for service to Him or something that is needed for survival. If you ask God for something that is based on your own lusts or will be harmful to you in any way, then don’t expect to get. If you don’t get what you ask for then you may want to take a step back and take a close look at what it is you’re wanting.
- Too often people will wonder where God is and why God doesn’t move to fix all the problems in the world or in a country or in their own lives or why God allows such bad things to happen in the first place. Well, take a look at 2nd Chronicles 7:14 for one example. If people want God to move and fix the problems then people need to turn away from their own ways of doing things, turn from their wicked ways and seek God and do His way.
- When you ask God for a clean heart He will show you what it is about your heart that is dirty and then you will have to choose what it is that you’re going to do about it. God does not wave a magic wand over you and make all your problems go away. You will have to fight and put effort into turning away from the things that make your heart dirty. And that’s the problem with people in our natural state. We want the problems in the world or in our lives to go away but when we are told that we need to change our ways and do things the Lord’s way because our way is what led to the problems in the first place, people decide they would rather keep their misery than to be inconvenienced in having to actually do something. People want the magic wand God but God does not work that way.
- In order for God to move to heal a land those who are called by His name (Christians) must turn from their wicked ways. God is speaking to those who claim to be His. Again, Christians. Most who claim to be Christians think they are alright and it’s others who are the problem. To be a Christian is to be in agreement with God, that your ways are wicked, prideful, arrogant, and selfish and His ways are right, before you can humble yourself and see a need to repent. That is where revival begins and it begins with you and changing your attitude to get back into His plan to do what God wants done not what suits you.
- How can a person repent if they don’t or won’t see that there is something about them they need to repent from. Every person is a sinner, yet it is common to hear people say I’m ok and everything is fine between me and God. Not once in the Gospel do you see Jesus patting someone on the back and telling them that they were ok and just fine the way they were and had no reason to repent for anything. Jesus’ message for everybody was “repent for the kingdom of God is at hand”.
