Subject:
- God knows whether we do things for ourselves (iniquity) or for Him.
- When we get to Heaven we can enter in if Jesus is truly our Lord and Savior, but if we get to Heaven as a worker of iniquity, we will be cast out of Heaven.
- We cannot be saved by association with anyone (spouse, minister, etc) other than Jesus. We are responsible for working out our own salvation with fear and trembling. Nobody can take salvation away from us and nobody can give us salvation other than Jesus Christ.
- If you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you receive oil and the lamp, but it is up to you to keep the oil going in the lamp.
- The foolish virgins were self-righteous and workers of iniquity because they looked to the wise virgins for more oil. Because the foolish virgins were not prepared the bridegroom did not let them in to the marriage. (Matthew 25)
- Contrast King David and King Saul: Saul gave excuses when he did not obey the voice of the Lord and he lost his title as King (1 Samuel 15); David acknowledged his sin before the Lord and did not lose his title as King (2 Samuel 12). We are to be like David and acknowledge our sin and repent.
- Attributes of unbelief are self-righteousness, playing games and giving excuses for our sins.
