Scriptures used:
- Psalm 26
- Hebrews 9:11-15
- 1 Corinthians 1:23-31
Subject:
- When you have adversity, something like us now with no electricity, what do you do? You could sit and complain and if you do you get nothing done. What we’ve been doing is having fellowship with no distractions. In times like that you could go one of two ways, have a pity party or move on.
- The army calls it adapt and overcome. When we move on there is something the other side of you for you to get.
- In tough times we need to be thankful as opposed to thinking about what we miss. Thanksgiving is an opportunity to look back over the previous year and take stock of the things to be thankful for, remembering those blessings the Lord has bestowed on us.
- Often we receive the blessings and move on and don’t thank the Lord for the things He’s given us and the assistance we have received.
- We need to be more thankful not thankless.
- When we read about David and compare ourselves we see we fall short and see where we could improve.
- Often something cool happens to us and we don’t tell people, how will anybody who’s out there and doesn’t know Christ or hasn’t heard about Him know if we don’t tell them what He’s done for us?
- Think with thankfulness on the blessing of God, and let us not forget that without Christ’s sacrifice not one of us would be redeemed.
- We sing the song “I’ve been redeemed by the blood of the lamb”. When it comes down to it that’s what we need to be thankful for, for without that we would be lost and dead in our own sins.
- This coming year let us be more thankful and focus on Him. Have you answered His call completely? Think about it.
- We thank God He chose from the weak and base things, the despised things because if we are not that base, weak, humble person we cannot receive the things of God. If we are noble or wonderful what need would we have of God? If we can become humble we can serve God and we can answer that call, we can be made perfect in him and move forward and confound these folks who just don’t understand.
- If they ask themselves how can that person do this or know that when they, it may be the question that will get them to come in too, they might then humble themselves to ask and if they ask, they shall receive.
- We thank the Lord for the opportunity to partake of His greatness.
- He takes something horrific and full of sin, turns it round to find redemption.
- Children reflect their parents and are sometimes not thankful for what their parents have given them.
- Let us move forward, not looking back, realizing our short comings, being thankful to Him and walk in His power.
