Subject:

  • Have you had a great week looking to the Lord for all the things that you need in this life with no cares about this world or only on Sunday?  In times you are close to being idle do you think about Him or praising Him and listening to Him in the quiet?
  • We need to know He is Lord; and studying and following His Word as ministers of the gospel.
  • We complain about rain but we need to see the good things we’ve had.  Every week we’ve got to find those spots where we screwed up because there we can see what we do and choose Jesus .
  • Joshua had decided to serve the Lord regardless of what the others did.  He and his house would serve the Lord.  He wasn’t asking anybody to do what he was not willing to do but it was his responsibility to guide his house in their choice of life or death, blessing or cursing, truth or lies, the Lord or Satan.
  • We have the same choice every day and part of every day.
  • Our family may wrestle with our decision but then we give the truth to them standing for the Word.  Which way it will go is not up to us except to say as for me and my house we will serve the Lord and stand for it.  Choose you, it is your choice God will not coerce you, accept Him and move forward boldly.  Satan will coerce you, your default position is with him.  If you choose wrongly it is your responsibility when you stand before God himself you will answer for your choice of life or death.
  • Many people in the Bible chose death but some chose life – what are you going to choose?  Do you want to be part of God’s house?  Refuse to serve yourself or the world then stand.
  • Moses refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter with its prestige, and chose to suffer with the people of God rather than enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season.  Sin is pleasurable but not fruitful and the price for it is eternal damnation.  He did not fear the king but chose Jesus and followed the Lord.
  • You’ve heard that years ago the Lord told me not to speak or utter a word except yay or nay for seven days except to preach, pray or sing praises but at no time was I to speak anything concerning anything except yes or no.  I could not defend or justify myself for seven days and His motivation was very strong.  It was amazing how many Christians came out of the woodwork and tried to get me to break it.   Non-believers didn’t do that.
  • At the end of that seven days God blessed me with a blessing and there’s no was no way I can describe it.  It was standing in the mist of that the shekinah glory, it was awesome.  He has shown me another thing recently and I’m going to start practicing that but not for seven days but to the day I die.
  • In Hebrews 12:14 word “men” out of it for now and read it as it was originally.  “Follow peace with all…”, men women children makes no difference.
  • Let me tell you how Hebrews 12: 14-15 applies to us as Christians?  It is a very simple thing to follow peace.
  • One of the things we do that is common in human nature is that we will say things about others that we are not willing to say to them.  It’s easy to complain to somebody about somebody when we don’t have the nerve, or the compassion or the love to go to that person and express what we feel,  right or wrong, and when you do that you’re not following peace.  And not only are you not following peace but you are causing others to not follow peace and eventually a root of bitterness begins to spring up and you become bitter towards that person so no matter what good they do all you can see is what you’re complaining about and they may not even know because you don’t have the love and the courage to go share it with them.
  • Bitterness spring up and it’s not going to hurt them unless they let it spring up in them, but it can cause you to fail.
  • If you can’t get this right it doesn’t matter how much you go to church, sing, say praise God, I don’t care how much you do it, if you can’t get this right you will not see the Lord.
  • Fail of the grace of God – God has given you grace for your sins, can you not give that grace to others for their sin even if it be against you?
  • When Stephen was being stoned did he curse those that stoned him?  Did he complain about it?  No he blessed God and asked God to forgive them because they didn’t understand what they were doing.  He followed the grace.  Do you follow the grace?
  • When somebody does something that you think harms you, hurts your feelings or something you don’t like, do you follow the grace by forgiving that person and forbearing that  person or do you go round and let a bitter root come up inside of you and try to bring others into your bitterness?
  • This is the church of God not just those that are in this room but those that are listening by satellite or tape, if you believe on the Lord Jesus Christ you are part of His body, it’s time we act like it and walk in it.
  • If you go back to Ephesians 4:1.  Every believer is called to a vocation and there are five vocations in Jesus Christ:  Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor and Teacher.  Every believer is to attain to one of those vocations (you must walk worthy of it).   A student that never graduates is worthless.  A Christian that never grows beyond being a pew warmer is worthless.  Every believer is to attain to one of those five, they’re all important, you must walk worthy of it.
  • “forbearing in love” … is putting up with each other’s stupidity, attitudes and faults in the same love that God puts up with you.  If you’re going to be a Teacher then praise God, if you’re going to be a minister, Evangelist, Pastor, Prophet, Halleluiah!  If you want to be an Apostle you’d better learn to get this part right because without it you’re not walking worthy of that vocation.
  • “Keeping the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace” goes back to Hebrews.  Why do we want to fight with one another and contend with one another when we all want the same thing, we all want to serve and love the Lord and we want Him to love us.
  • Everybody wants to be loved, then love others even if they’re unlovable and God will bless you mightily in it and let’s not let a root of bitterness spring up in us.
  • Back to Hebrews 12:16.  A fornicator or profane person covers a lot of territory.  What happens when a root of bitterness steps in?  You may not go out and become a fornicator but you will become profane in the sight of God.  God forbid.  None of us want that, amen?
  • Let’s seek after peace, let’s walk worthy in that which God has called us to walk in, and from now on to avoid that root of bitterness, speak only those things that are good, only those things that are holy, only those things that are righteous to one another.
  • If you can’t say a thing to a person’s face then bless God you’ve got no business saying it to anybody else.  Don’t come to me telling me if you can’t tell them.
