TFM-Northfield-VermontSpeakers:

  • Steven Atherton
  • Joan Clinning

Scriptures used:

  • James
  • John 15

Subject:

  • Judgment:  we are not right to judge others.
  • When we are pointing a finger at others the other fingers point back at ourselves.
  • The Lord’s grace is there for us.
  • Our children are not much different from ourselves.
  • We make judgments of how to bring up our children, a right time to judge.
  • Fathers, a picture your children have of what God is, comes from you.
  • We are saved by grace.  We are not God, He is.  It’s important for our children to realize this.
  • Faults cause us to lean on Him.  Faults become a testimony of the Gospel.
  • We can then grow and have compassion on others.
  • Judgment robs you of compassion and mercy.  Mercy rejoiceth against judgment.
  • When you extend mercy unto others, you will see they at least for a season are mindful of not doing the same thing again.
  • We forget what sort of men we are, that mercy has been extended, and think well of ourselves, then we are blinded by pride, and fall.
  • After we fall, we get angry with God, become more prideful, and this is dangerous.
  • We need to die daily, like Paul did.  Put down our life and desires and come under subjection first to Jesus Christ and realize our complete and total need for Him.
  • Ye can do nothing – John 15 – When we remember this place daily, we can have compassion, and want to help others get free.
  • We need to be motivated out of what Jesus Christ wants us to do, not what we want.
  • We need to lay it all down for the Lord, then the joy that can only come from Him will be there.
  • Living waters – a life of joy – where the Lord is, is a joyous experience.
  • He who will seek to save his life shall lose it.  If we seek our own thing, rather than what the Lord would have us do, our eternal life is in danger.
  • Those who walk it out become targets of those who come against the Lord.
  • The churches are calling other than Jesus Christ’s way good.  An example:  the prosperity gospel.  They don’t want to hear that they have to give up their lives.
  • If we give up our life we are stars:  every star has its place:  as we go forth into the world, we are to preach the gospel and shine that light.
  • The stars shed light on the earth as we are here to shed light in the world.  If we are not a star, we are a black hole:  a star that no longer gives out light but draws all light unto itself.
