Subject:
- It is true joy when we accept The Lord.
- Chastisement from our elders is for our good.
- God honors humility.
- If you allow bitterness to take root in you when you are chastised, you allow the thief to kill, steal and destroy.
- We are in a battle. We need to battle that bitterness or it will steal our joy.
- It is a battle to hang onto that joy – The thief doesn’t want us to have it.
- Don’t fall asleep at your post, it is a constant fight to go for the prize. If we are not diligently on guard it starts as a seed, watered by the flesh, it eventually pushes our joy away.
- Joy comes from Him, and the world doesn’t understand it. They are looking for that joy.
- The great cloud of witnesses are those mentioned in Hebrews 11, their testimonies are there for us.
- They are examples of the liberty we can have in Christ Jesus.
- Every weight – lay them aside. We are not to carry a single weight. Humble yourself.
- It creates a love and appreciation for The Lord , we grow and move forward in Christ Jesus.
- Sin easily besets us.
- Unbelief is strengthened by pride.
- We don’t have to be beholden to this flesh, our old life. He can give us all that we have need of to go out and carry out his work.
- Jesus was wholly dedicated to serving his Father from his youth up.
- That more abundant life is that of Christ, we partake of it by faith, humble yourself and cast off unbelief.
- We think we deserve things and justify ourselves in that which is wrong.
- The battle takes place in our minds. No matter what I cast out those thoughts of justification.
- Run with patience. No matter how hard we run we can’t escape our flesh. Deal with one thing at a time.
- As you do that, the joy can’t help but inhabit you.
- When we walk in that others will see that we have a hope in that victory.
- Hebrews 3 – the children of Israel came out of Egypt with Moses.
- The people got what they wanted from God but didn’t want to give up their lives for Him.
- Moses and Jesus didn’t look successful but they didn’t lack or fail in any way.
- A whole generation had to die in the desert because of unbelief.
- Pharaoh is a type and shadow of our old man -the flesh.
- We are fruits of Moses’s faithfulness.
- The only place we can have joy is because of what God has done for us and to stand in that.
- Deceitfulness of sin: it lies to us and justifies us in not doing what Jesus has for us. It will rob us of joy in Christ Jesus.
- Exhort one another of things they already know -because we need it. All of us have to struggle against Deceitfulness of sin and pride that wants to come in and drag us into the pit.
- We have a choice of continuing to live by everything we have done in the past or live a new life divine in Christ Jesus.
