TFM-Northfield-VermontSpeakers:

  • Steven Atherton
  • Carrie Cannon

Scriptures used:

  • 1 Corinthians 13
  • Psalms 25

Subject:

  • God is love, and the charity spoken of in 1 Cor 13 is love.
  • Our soul comes from God and returns unto God.  Who else would you lift up your soul unto?
  • David is lifting up his soul to the Lord to be examined and be transformed in accordance with God’s will.
  • I trust in thee:  That is a cry, also a declaration.  It is a choice we make within ourselves to trust in Him.
  • We get off course.  We don’t get something we would like because it would be to our detriment and the Lord loves us.
  • Some lessons are hard and we wish we didn’t have to learn them, but we’re thankful for learning them.
  • We have to fight.  There are enemies who want to rob us of faith, and will come against us all the time.
  • David went to the Lord to ask for his help when his enemies were against him.  The Lord said He would deliver him and his men from the enemies.  His men went with him despite what it looked like and they were delivered.
  • Notwithstanding the constant difficulties David was in, he trusted the Lord, and sought Him for what to do, and was obedient unto Him.
  • If you’re going to confront situations against you, because you know the Lord will come through for you, you seek His will as as a servant and trust in Him.
  • Are we going to be a servant of the Lord or do our own thing?
  • If we want to serve someone faithfully, you have to learn everything about that person so you know what they are pleased with.
  • Do we want to learn to serve?  It is a choice.  If you want to learn to serve, if you ask, He will teach you.
  • Get rid of the poor pitiful me, I can’t do anything.  That is nonsense.  If you want to serve the Lord, you can in any situation or time of life you are in.
  • His grace is sufficient for us, His strength is made perfect in weakness.
  • He wants us each to climb the mountain of God.
  • Teach me:  I need a lot of learning.  I need to know Your way, Lord.  None of this other stuff in the world we have learned are perfect.  His ways are perfect.   We need to humble ourselves to want to learn those things and press forward in that new way that He has for us.
  • David acknowledged his sin and asked for those tender mercies from the Lord.
  • He chose before He said let there be light, knowing the nature of man, chose to send His son to die for us.
  • David relies totally on the goodness and mercy of God.
  • The Lord will take us right now and if we will let Him, He will teach us in THE way.  His way.
