TFM-Northfield-VermontSpeakers:

  • Carrie Cannon
  • Charles Hocker
  • Megan Atherton

Scriptures used:

  • Psalm 40
  • Matthew 19:16-22

Subject:

  • “Jesus Lover of My Soul” song:  we have a choice, we can fall into struggles and let them pull us down and consume us, or rise above that through what the Lord has given us and done for us.
  • Remember the first commandment: love the Lord God with your whole heart, soul, mind, and strength, and love your neighbor as yourself.
  • The rich young ruler asking Jesus what good thing can he do?
  • Religion is all about what good thing they can do.  They want to exalt themselves by their doing good.
  • It makes them FEEL good, but it glorifies themselves.
  • When you have money, it’s easier to trust that than Jesus.
  • What good thing can I do?  The only thing I can do is believe Jesus and what He did.
  • If he had sold everything he had, he would have had to trust Jesus that He would provide for him day in and day out.
  • What can we give Him?  We can give Him our faith, that is the only thing we can offer to Him.
  • That is the “Heart of Worship”.  Faith and belief on Jesus Christ.  It’s all about what HE did.
