TFM-Wednesday-Womens-Bible-Study

Speakers:

  • Robin Atherton
  • Ann Eutsler
  • Karen Hocker
  • Megan Atherton

Scriptures used:

  • 2 Timothy 2:24-26
  • Ephesians 6:4
  • Proverbs 13:24
  • Proverbs 22:15

Subject:

  • Discussion about parenthood.
  • The father in the household is the head of all; his wife is also a minister to the children.
  • The- household is what God’s kingdom looks like when they all believe the Lord.
  • As the mother serves the Lord she must not strive, get into arguments  against her children.  Getting into a battle of wills or words with them is not what she should do.
  • The right place is to stand with what you say, so they know what to aim toward.
  • There is no perfect parent.
  • We have an advocate: go to the Lord and ask His forgiveness.  He loves our children more than we do.
  • Put your children in the Lord’s hands and ask His forgiveness and go forward.
  • If we have to be taught something, it doesn’t come naturally.
  • Titus 2:4:  “…to love their husbands, to love their children”: this is philios (a love of affection).
  • When you beat yourself up, you’re not believing the word is true.
  • The rod is a proper response to an action by a child. It isn’t done in vengeance and retribution, because you love them you are going to correct them.
  • If you’re angry the best thing to do is walk away, calm down, then go back and deal with the situation.  Never hit your child in anger.
  • Betimes: quick on the task, earnestly.  Then the punishment is over and you can move on.
  • Some children are provoked to anger, by who they are.  That is not of God.  The Lord wants us to have freedom to live our lives so we can learn.
  • Children have to learn to hear and obey.  These are the things that when you are clearly speaking you can follow up a clear chastening so that they can learn to hear, submit and obey.
  • It’s a high calling to have children who are rightly trained up.  It’s peculiar to the world.
  • We are selfish by nature.  We have to pull things apart, destroy things, justify ourselves.  When we have children we see how selfish our lives are.  We can choose to love our children and our husbands.
  • Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child: but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him. We can learn how to handle things, those in the body of Christ can give us help.
