TFM-Wednesday-Womens-Bible-Study

Speakers:

  • Robin Atherton
  • Karen Hocker
  • Megan Atherton

Scriptures used:

  • Psalm 23

Subject:

  • The Lord is my shepherd: this was written by King David about himself.
  • This is true of him.  It can also be true of us, as long as we choose to become one of His flock.
  • The sheep are helpless without the shepherd.  He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:  the green pastures are His Word.  He restoreth our soul:  He brings us back to where we need to be, leads us gently on.
  • The still waters:  sheep are afraid of muddy, rushing waters.  The still waters bring peace.
  • The valley of the shadow of death is this life.  We fear no evil because He is with us.
  • The rod is to keep the enemies away, also to correct us on our way.  The staff has a crook in it for the sheep’s neck, to gently guide it back to the path it needs to go on.
  • Thou anointest my head with oil:  anointest means “make fat”.  In other words, we will have everything we need.
  • My cup runneth over:  There is plenty for others as well as ourselves.  We can share.
  • David says he is sure mercy will follow him all the days of his life:  his life is a testimony of the mercy of the Lord upon Him, and his acceptance that he is a sinner and needs the Lord’s mercy.
