Subject:
- Confess your faults one to another. Recognizing the difference between a fault and a sin. An example of confessing a fault is acknowledging that one of your faults is talking instead of listening. A fault is a character trait that needs to and can be fixed, i.e. not putting a toilet seat down. Sin is an offense against the Lord. We are to acknowledge our shortcomings one to another, not our sins … we sin against God alone, not man.
- Acknowledge your faults does not mean you volunteer it, but when something is brought up to you we admit, “acknowledge” it.
- Prayer is one of the most important parts of a Christian life. It is very important to know how to pray and to look at the different parts of prayer.
- Begin your prayer by Confessing your sins to God. If you sin you sin against God and you need to acknowledge that you are wrong and accept responsibility for your sin, if you want God to answer your prayer. You don’t want God to resist your prayer. What makes it hard to confess our sins is pride. God resists the proud! It takes being humble to confess and admit we are wrong because the flesh always wants to be right.
- It is important to know that there is a difference between a fault and a sin.
- Any sin can cause weakness in your prayer life. Satan will use anything he can to destroy your prayer life. It is critical not to allow the enemy any space at all. That is why it is important to confess your sins to God at the beginning of prayer.
- 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
- Even if it takes us a while to confess a sin, maybe because of selfishness or stubbornness, Gods grace and mercy can be abundant unto us still.
- Be mindful of who you confess to. It can cause more harm than good if you confess to someone who is not a mature Christian and gives you bad advice on how to handle it. It can be even more destructive to the situation.
- Pray one for another. Praying for others is a way to heal your own soul, spirit, and body.
- Knowing what you are praying about is the first step in praying in an effectual way. Having effectual prayer is another facet to a strong prayer life. Effectual is being powerful and active in a mighty way. Being fervent goes with being effectual. Being fervent is being serious. The two go together.
