  • Megan Atherton

Scriptures used:

  • Lamentations 3:19-23
  • Hebrews 6:18-20
  • Hebrews 7:19
  • 1 Peter 1:13
  • Proverbs 31:1-31

Subject:

  • Scriptures on hope.
  • Our hope cannot lie in doing everything right.  It is of the Lord’s mercy that we are not consumed.
  • Hope is an anchor of the soul.  Sure and steadfast.  The hope of salvation.
  • It’s not about us and how we do things.  Our hope is in Jesus and that’s how we are able to draw nigh to Him.
  • Choose where you’re going to place your hope.  Our hope has to be in Jesus Christ.  This is an effort.
  • Gird up the loins of your mind.  That is where the battle takes place.  He didn’t die for us because we’ve done everything right.
  • Don’t give the nonsense place.  It’s going to be there, but who cares.  Don’t give it any place because Jesus has set us free.
  • As you serve the Lord, as you bring hope unto others, and it will also come to yourself; it builds your faith too.
  • Our physical feelings often try to keep us back from serving the Lord.  His strength is made perfect in weakness.  We can do it if we choose.
  • We do not have to be subject to how we feel.  Determine and get mad, and don’t let it rule you.
  •  Ask how we can serve the Lord today.  Then things will come to you to do,   Service to the Lord is the key to hope and to faith.
  • The story of Ruth, a Moabite, a descendant of Lot.  She chose rather than to be with her people, to go back with a widow woman and care for her with no expectations for herself and made herself of no reputation.  She ended up being in the line of Jesus, and called a virtuous woman in the bible.
  • Ruth was not how we are by nature.  She didn’t care whether she could find a husband in Israel.  She had lowliness of mind that sprung a strong hope.
  • The heart of the husband of a virtuous woman safely trusts in his wife.  Pretty amazing thing.  The husband likes being with her.
  • If you are lowly, as the virtuous woman,  you are constantly seeking to serve others.
  • The virtuous woman works willingly with her hands.   Always looking for the best for her household.  She’s willing to travel to get it.
  • She gives her household the best start possible so that they can get a good start that day.
  • She is not afraid of doing what is necessary to get things done.
  • She is not taken by surprise.    She is mindful continuously of those around her, and when she sees someone in need she is pleased to serve and minister unto them.
  • She considers others better than herself and because of that, can have the law of kindness in her tongue, and serve others with love.
  • A woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.
