  • Ephesians 5:22-25

Subject:

  • Gods promises are true!  We have to believe Him and have faith that He will deliver on those promises.  Without faith, what makes us think that we would receive anything from God?
  • Gods hand is always outstretched to us.  But it is our responsibility to reach out and take hold of it.  God is not going to force us to take hold of the good things He has for us.  We must choose to want them and go after them.  Take His hand and let Him guide you.
  • Agape Love is an everyday choice.  To choose to love a person even when they may not be in a place where they are being very lovable is not an easy thing to do.  But God still loved us, even in the times when we were not so lovable.  This is the love of God.  We ought to be the same in extending that love one to another no matter how a person might make you “feel”.  The “feelings” of the flesh cannot get in the way of doing what is righteous before God.
  • The relationship between a Husband and wife is similar to the relationship between us and the Lord.  If we are not right with the Lord, then chances are a marriage will not work right either or the relationship with our children.
  • Faith to believe God does not come overnight.  First we need to get to know God and let the Gospel have it’s work in us so we can grow into it.  We don’t always believe what God says right away even though we believe in Him.  Looking at Sarah, Abraham’s wife, when the Lord said that she would have a child she laughed because she was well passed the age of a woman to have a child.  She did not believe what God had said at that moment.  However, in Hebrews 11:11 we learn that Sarah did, in time, judge God to be faithful to that which He had promised her and she did have a child.  So it is a process by which we learn how to walk in faith and it takes time.  Be patient and believe that God will finish the works in you that He started.  Is anything too big for God to handle?
  • If the husband (as the head of the family) is obedient and walking right with God the whole family can be part of the blessings God has.  Noah is a great example of that.  He was found to be righteous before God and because of his faith and belief in God Noah’s whole house was saved from the flood.  On the other hand, the unbelief of a husband will bring consequences to his house.
  • Even if a husband has fallen into unbelief or is not a believer to begin with, a believing wife can have a huge and fruitful impact in that situation.  There are many testimonies out there of a husband turning to the Lord because they saw the faith and commitment to God by their wives.  If you are a wife in this situation all is NOT lost.  Stay faithful to God and He will work on your husband and get it straightened out one way or another.  That might mean getting him out of the way altogether if he continues to reject God long enough.
  • The first ministry is to the family.  How well a household functions (the actions of the wife toward the husband and the children toward the parents) is a reflection of the actions of the husband toward God.  If the husband is not obedient to God, why should anybody else in the family be obedient to one or another?
