Subject:

  • What makes you worthy? What makes you forgivable? What makes you special? The answer is nothing.
  • How does the outside world see you?  Do they see you at all?   Most of the time they don’t if you are about how they perceive you? Do you demonstrate by your actions, speech and words that you follow Jesus Christ?
  • How do you spend your free time?   What do you long for and live for? We need to be living for Him. The Word tells us to set our affections on those things above not on those things of this earth.
  • If you want to know God and be intimate with that knowledge of God there is only one way and that is to serve Him, become a servant of God. A servant of God is not about his own business, a servant of God is about His business.
  • His commandment was you are my disciples, or my friends, when you do whatever I tell you to do. In another place He said if you love me keep my commandments.   What were His commandments?   Not the law, but to love God with all your heart, soul, strength, and your neighbor as yourself.
  • Is that really so hard to do?  Not when we have our eyes are on the Lord, not when we love Him first.   If we love Him first then it is easy to love others but if our eyes are on us it is almost impossible to love others.
  • The only way to know the Lord is by getting in His Word and having faith in Him.
  • It is easy to believe in but to believe on means you believe everything He said.  To walk it you have to know it, to know it you have to read it.
  • You can’t go out and present yourself as a Christian and act, speak, walk as the world does.
  • Thank God for His grace and His mercy for another day to learn and strengthen ourselves so that hopefully when the day comes we can be with the Lord.
  • When we take His name and call ourselves Christian and aren’t out in the world walking as Christians we are taking His name in vain. We are to do as He would have us do.
  • Every minister is called to be a “minister of fire”.
  • John Wesley, in God’s Generals, said he asked God every morning to set him on fire so he could go out and people could watch him burn.   Isn’t that what we should do too and have our focus on that?
  • The story of a boy who made a little sail boat, lost it, found it and worked to buy it back.  He said you’re mine twice now, I made you and now you’re mine again because I’ve bought you back.
  • God created us and also redeemed us.   He paid the price to buy us out of sin.   All we have to do is believe Him and receive that redemption. It is free, He paid the price. We need to receive it and obey Him and move forward in Him.
  • Search and find out where you have “gods” that distract you, that you pay attention to.
  • When your mind takes a break from daily living – where does it rest?   A compass always rests pointing to north.   Our “north” is Jesus and our needle needs to point to Him always.
  • You need to reckon yourself dead that you may live in Him with a singleness of mind.
  • The story of a strong Beagle dog showing it will lead a pack to hunt rabbits, some follow and nothing will tear them away from the rabbit but others drift off from it and fall back. Do you have the commitment to continue with the chase, that passion, that desire, that drive?   If not there is hope – get into your closet, get on your knees and pray. Pray for that passion, that desire, then move forward in Jesus without looking back.
  • Do you want to know God on a real personal level?   Most would say yes but what does it take to know God on a personal level?
  • We miss the meaning of scripture when we don’t read it in context.
  • God so loved the world, His creation, that he gave Jesus so that if someone believes in Jesus they should not perish.   Why should not?   Because to believe is only the beginning point, the starting point.
  • How many people did God give Jesus the authority to save? Not everybody, He had only the authority to save eleven people. If you think you are one of them – that’s pride, you’re wrong. Jesus could save only eleven souls out of the entire world.   So what about us? We are among those who believe on Him through their word. It is not to believe in Him but believe on Him.
  • God gave His Son that whosoever believed in Him would have the opportunity to go forth and get the rest of it, and that is to believe on Him.
  • How did these eleven get there?   Yes, they were foreordained, predestinated but they still had to get there like everybody else.
  • Jesus not only laid down His daily life but His whole life for them.
  • How did they become friends?
  • As God gave His Son as an opportunity for us to believe so we must give ourselves as an example that others may believe. If we go about our lives seeking our will, our glory, our ways, we are denying people an opportunity to know God.
  • We have to come to that place where we love God with all our heart, soul, mind, strength (not the body, not the flesh, which can never love God). But with our spirit, our soul, our strength we can serve God.
  • When the flesh rears up and wants to go contrary to what God wants we have that opportunity to say “NO!”
  • If I see someone I don’t like for some reason, my flesh says reject that person, have nothing to do with them. But my spirit says Jesus died that even that person too might believe.   Who am I to take that away from them.
  • If you want to know God you have to first start off by serving God. How do you serve God? The same way Jesus served God, by serving those around him. And then by bringing the gospel and good news to them – they served Him.
  • This is a good message and it is worthy of hearing and acceptation.   It was given to me in the wee hours of the night.   The Lord woke me and gave this message to give. I hope I have done it justice, I hope you get the point.
