TFM-Northfield-VermontSpeakers:

  • Steven Atherton
  • Charles Hocker
  • Megan Atherton

Scriptures used:

  • Romans 6
  • Hebrews 11:6

Subject:

  • It is paralyzing when we look at how we are and how can the Lord love us?
  • Yes, we are awful.  But we can’t live there.  We can’t live under the cloud, or we can never serve the Lord.
  • We have to get to that point that we recognize that we cannot serve God with our flesh.
  • As we grow in the Lord He takes away those things in the flesh that are contrary to Him.
  • We have to recognize that this body is sin.  But as we become stronger in the Lord that strength is so much greater than that flesh that it will eventually die, and we won’t be subject unto it.
  • Walking in faith and victory.  We want to start walking in that victory, and we can’t do it in the flesh.
  • We walk by faith, not by sight.  Where sin abounds grace abounds more.
  • You have to get rid of that part of you that wants to be exalted.  You have to be willing to be nothing.
  • He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.
  • Shall we continue in sin?  Yes, we are going to sin again!!
  • Are we going to dwell in that resurrected body of Jesus Christ by faith, or in our flesh?
  • He wouldn’t tell us to put on His mind if our mind was anything great.
  • We should not put faith in our ministers!  If you believe the Word of God you will put your faith in Jesus.  Then the failures of others will not move you.
  • David – he did the right thing over and over again in unbelievable circumstances.  He extended grace unto the people of God continually.  Then he falls and the law of Moses said that he must die.  His sin was forgiven.  In the sight of the people he had fallen down many pegs.  He had to stand in the grace of God notwithstanding everyone rejecting him.
  • In the midst of that, he yet extended grace to others.
  • When you get down to the place where you realize that you are wicked and have an evil heart, you take those thoughts and cast them off and desire His mind.  And see what the Father would have you do, and do it.
  • Want that newness of life that translates you out of this cursed sinful body and into the body of His Dear Son when you are baptized.
  • Then choose to want what He’s got and the things of the earth grow strangely dim.  They don’t matter to you anymore, because you’ve got something that’s better.
  • Prefer the things of His Kingdom over the things of the earth.
  • There is no justification for us.  We have no redeeming features.  Not one.  Go forth in Jesus and forget about all the other stuff.
  • The joy He gives you will be more than sufficient for the other stuff you’re losing.
  • I will open up my heart and let the healer set me free.  It’s true for you and me.
  • It starts with you and me for the people around us.
