- James 4
Subject:
- The Lord doesn’t just throw 10 Commandments at you and then expect you to make things work the best you can, He gives us a body and if you’re willing to receive it will be profitable to you.
- Examine your motives behind your actions. Are you looking to glorify God or are you wanting to make yourself important or likeable before the world?
- How do you treat the Lord? Is your motive to please Him?
- Terror and fear are not part of having a sound mind. Be aware of what you partake in that will provoke such things. (i.e. certain movies or celebrating and participating in Halloween). For God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, love, and of a sound mind.
- It is important to bring up issues that we struggle with to those above us in the Lord and trust that the counsel they give us is right. Even if we don’t agree with what they tell us or we don’t like it. Get over it!
- We can’t serve God if we are serving ourselves. We cannot love others if we do not die to ourselves first.
- God will not give you a thing you ask for if you intend to glorify yourself with it or if it will be a stumbling block and hinder you in your walk with Him. He will not feed you in self righteousness or feed your pride.
- Gods grace is there for you. All you need to do is humble yourself. God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
- God will meet you wherever you are. You don’t need to “clean” yourself up or change your life to try and be more presentable to Him. He already knows we are sinners right where we stand.
- Humble yourself in the sight of the Lord and He shall lift you up.
