Subject:
- The stories of Ruth and Rahab.
- They were not Israelites by birth but they chose to serve the Lord God of Israel with obedience, submission, lowliness of mind, and forwardness in the spirit.
- Ruth and Rahab both chose the Lord despite the tough situations they were in.
- They were both honored in the genealogy of the Lord in Matthew chapter 1 because of their faithfulness.
- How many of us would go to a new place we hadn’t been before without knowing what will happen to us?
- Ruth did this and submitted to her mother in law, and was humble.
- Humbleness is the key. Self righteousness comes from pride. Ruth served the Lord by gleaning the fields for food. She didn’t think presumptuously that she was going to get any great thing when she went back home with Naomi.
- Ruth is the only one in the bible described as a virtuous woman.
- We will look next week at Proverbs 19:14, Proverbs 12:4 and Proverbs 31.
