Subject:
- When we hear the simple truth of the Gospel, we will either hear it and receive it or we will reject it. It is pride that will keep us from receiving it. The truth is simple enough for anyone to get it. There is no excuse to not get it, only that you don’t want it.
- God helps those who help themselves is a false statement. It is NOT found in scripture. God helps those who humble themselves before Him and realize we cannot help ourselves. That is why we need Him!
- When you have a relationship with Jesus you then have His righteousness upon you to do His will. To love Him and love one another. It gives us the chance to exercise ourselves in Godliness.
- John chapter 11 tells us of the resurrection of Lazarus. When Jesus heard that Lazarus was sick He replied “This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.”
- Jesus knew He was going to raise Lazarus from the dead to show the glorious power of God. Jesus even waited two days before leaving from where He was at to go to Lazarus.
- When Jesus came Lazarus had been in the grave four days already.
- There was no mistake that Lazarus was dead, it was very clear to all who were there.
- Martha and Mary, Lazarus’ sisters, were both upset that Jesus had not gotten there sooner and had he been there sooner their brother would not have died in the first place. They did not understand that God had the power to raise a person from the dead and that their brother was gone from them.
- Jesus groaned in the spirit and was troubled at their unbelief that He was able to yet still raise Lazarus from the dead even after four days. Jesus came to the grave, commanded that the stone be removed from the grave and Jesus cried with a loud voice ” Lazarus, come forth.” And Lazarus came forth out of the grave. After four days! Many believed on Jesus after seeing this, and others, the chief priests and the pharisees, became concerned that all men would believe on Him and that the Romans would come and take away their place in the church and their nation.
- Some people will witness a great work of God and only be disturbed by it or offended. Sad but true.
- The bottom line is, never, never, never underestimate the power of God! What we see in the natural does not matter.
