Subject:

  • The old man is continuously against us.
  • The battle we must wage against unbelief to enter into God’s rest.
  • Receiving the gospel without mixing the gospel with faith is dangerous… just like eating a steak and your body not digesting it properly.
  • Sin that doth so easily beset us is unbelief.  That is why we must labor to enter into the rest.
  • According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
  • The battle against pride is different for different people.
  • Before we come to the Lord we think we are many different things, but coming to the realization that without Him we are nothing is humbling.
  • The manifold flavors of pride and its woes.
  • Contentment with what the Lord has given me.
  • All sin is a result of pride.  The three basic sin groups:  The lust of the eyes, the lust of flesh and the pride of life.
  • Our struggle is to believe in Jesus.
  • When you are aware of your worthlessness, you can choose the path of woe is me and live in condemnation, or you can deceive yourself into believing you are a ‘good’ person and go down the carnal path, or you can choose to acknowledge your worthlessness and enter into his rest and acknowledge His greatness.
  • We have peace when we lean not unto our own understanding but rather leaning on Him and His grace and mercy.
  • Lay down your life which is laying down our flesh.
  • Learning His ways and making them our ways.
  • What good is our service to Christ if we have not made it about Him and are still about our own ways?
  • Believe on Him whom God hath sent.
  • Praise the Lord for another day to learn about Him and His ways so we can get it right.
  • Correction and chastisement in the Lord is showing us what’s right, teaching us how to walk rightly in His ways and not in the ways that are familiar to us that are wrong.
  • Trust in the sufficiency of His plan and ability to perform it because we are unable to.
  • Experience brings hope which spurs us on in the Spirit because we know that those things which are HUGE for us are small things for Christ.
  • When we are chastened, we should repent instead of becoming hung up in our natural man.
  • We have all been beset with the pain of where we find ourselves continually failing to walk worthy of Him who has called us.
  • The ways we used to walk in are not God’s ways, so we need to allow Him to teach us His ways.
