Subject:

  • Communication – letting others know what is happening, finding out information, whether written, verbal or through audio.
  • Communication is the basis of being with the Lord too.   No answers can be received unless we communicate.   Words unspoken are of no use.
  • Reading is a form of communication, one which the Lord uses, he gave us His Word. We must look in His Word to find the message or answer we need to receive.
  • Every situation we are in we have a choice, we can choose our reaction to a situation and our attitude about it.   We need to replace the old, sinful, natural responses with new attitudes.
  • Put off the old self which is corrupted by its deceitful desires and put on the new man which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.   We want to replace evil with good, worry with faith, despair with hope, anger with love, suspicion with trust, confusion with wisdom and a sound mind.
  • Why don’t we do this, why is it so hard?  It is our flesh. We keep looking back, we have a natural response which looks back and it’s hard to break that habit.
  • Create new habits, learn what Jesus would have us do, we have the Bible, let us get into it and know it.
  • If you are living with shame and guilt over past failures you need to forgive yourself and forget what is behind and strive toward what is before you.  Our hope is in Jesus Christ alone, faith in what He did on the cross, not what we did or didn’t do, we must just move forward believing him and receive His forgiveness, mercy and grace.
  • The way to become a friend of God is through service. You have to be a servant of God before you become a friend of God. How do you serve God?  You do it through serving those He has over you.   It is against human nature because we are our own gods and we don’t want any other gods in our lives, specially those gods that have all kinds of failures.
  • God has given us teachers, evangelists, pastors, prophets and apostles to teach us how to serve Him and the best way to do that is by serving one another and those He puts over us.
  • The Lord says we’re to be like Him, not as the world, but like Him.
  • They bring a woman caught in adultery to Jesus. We see the difference between the nature of man and the nature of God. The nature of man sees someone do something wrong and they want to accuse them, punish them, because it makes them feel better, feel righteous. But Jesus who was righteous and is righteous and the only righteous said I don’t accuse you. He did not condemn the woman.
  • The nature of God is not to condemn.   The nature of God is to forgive and offers through this forgiveness a way where you can change, but you’ve got to receive it, accept it.   You must believe God is a forgiver of sin and when you go to Him and ask for forgiveness, He does it, He gives it to you.
  • Richard was praying for the Lord to forgive him of all his sins, then realized that was a prayer of unbelief because he had already asked God to forgive him all his sins.   Why would he ask again tomorrow, they’re already forgiven!   Is it not sufficient to ask God to forgive you your sins for that day and deliver you from the evil one that you may go forward in Him?
  • Why do we look back and always draw it up in our own face and do the devil’s work for him?   It’s because of the nature of man, that sin nature in the flesh which is corrupt.
  • Those that hear this message and receive it are going to go forward and forget the past and start walking in the now, they’re not going to worry about tomorrow or the past.   There’s enough evil today to have to battle with.
  • If we don’t communicate we can get angry, depressed or just feel useless.
  • If the answer is not what we want but it is the Word of the Lord it does not matter. God’s answers are not always what makes us feel good.
  • When you catch yourself wanting to accuse somebody of sin, remind yourself that you are a sinner.  Your sin may not be the same sin as the one you want to accuse and it may not, in your eyes, be as bad but remember with God sin is sin, and it all comes from the root of pride.   So it matters not how large or how small your sin is, it’s sin and why would we accuse someone else, but rather love them and offer them the forgiveness of the Lord.
