- 2 Peter
Subject:
- Those that have stayed in the body of Christ and remained have a testimony for others.
- If we don’t depart and know He is true, there is hope in Him.
- Meditate on the word of God – first get the Word in you. Read the word.
- Apostle Paul – a man of zeal and diligence toward The Lord.
- We should do as Paul did, take on the mind of those above us, and put off our own mind.
- We can choose to be like Timothy, Paul’s son in the Lord. Timothy was likeminded with Paul.
- They put off their carnal minds and put on the mind of Christ.
- Abigail said she was David’s handmaiden. (female bondslave). A great example.
- Be strong in the grace – Paul’s admonition to Timothy.
- Making up the difference for others is not serving God. Doing things for others thinking we are loving them is a mistake. Loving them is having them step out and do what they need to do.
- People have a misunderstanding about grace. It is there for us when we fall. Then we can go forward.
- 2 Tim 2:1. Timothy serves Paul as a father.
- Timothy was recommended to Paul by the brethren, because he had already submitted and was faithful.
- In the Word, if you made a penny, it was your father’s, not yours. Serving another as a son to a father it is like that, you are wholly dedicated to him. Very different than the world today.
- That’s what Timothy did. He didn’t look at what was in it for him. There was no greater honor than serving Paul and the Lord.
- A butler gives up life for his master. He has a position in household, but is still a slave.
- Knowledge is proper understanding of Jesus and his Word.
- He wants us to partake of his divine nature.
- Add to your faith virtue -stand up and take your place in the body of Christ. Minister to the person before you in his divine nature. We slink back and refuse to stand in the divine nature because we see ourselves as being small. Well, we are small!
- Let’s get so small we can fit through the eye of a needle. And press into that place.
- We use sin as an excuse. Grace is there for us so we can strive and fail.
- The purpose of grace is to learn from mistakes and go forward.
- It’s like lighting a candle. Christ lit Paul, and Paul lit others. Become that flaming fire that can light others.
- Pride wants us to do it for ourselves so we feel like WE have done something.
- If we walk in Him, people can see Christ Jesus.
- It doesn’t matter how long it takes for us to get it right.
