Scriptures used:
- Hebrews 4
- Ephesians 5:5
Subject:
- You are not your flesh, but only if you choose not to be your flesh.
- Consider the similarities of the sin of Annanias and Saphira as compared to the attitudes we can have as Christians today. Their sin was to portray giving 100% but yet they held back a portion for themselves. We as Christians profess to be 100% sold out to God, but often hold back a portion of our lives for ourselves. What’s the difference?
- Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and you will have all that you need.
- Doubt your doubts. If your thoughts are contrary to the Word of God or they are of unbelief, those doubts are the ones to doubt.
- Choose not to be conformed to the things of this world or of its ways.
- Saying “I have to do” something vs. ” I get to do” something makes a big difference. “I have to” is a state of mind that says you are being inconvenienced to have to do a thing. To say “I get to do” is a mind set of being able to take joy in a thing you do. Don’t think “I have to serve God”. Serving God should not be considered an inconvenient obligation. “I get to serve God” is a blessing to have the opportunity to do so.
- Submit yourself a living sacrifice unto the Lord and He will respond by renewing your mind.
- Submitting yourself unto God goes against everything your flesh desires.
- We have a tendency to walk away from the Lord. We start in belief and move into unbelief. Start with a clean heart and end up in idolatry. That is human nature. That is what we fight against in our walk with the Lord.
- Jesus called himself a rock of offense because He is an offense to the flesh and to the world.
- You need to know where you are and where you stand in Christ.
- We are justified by faith in Christ Jesus. This is the Gospel. The Gospel of Jesus has been around since the very beginning.
- We can rest in the goodness of God because of all the good things He has done for us in our lives. We can rest in the love of Jesus because He has proven His love for us.
- Just because you hear the Word of God, if it is not mixed with faith it will do you absolutely no good. Look at the example of the children of Israel coming out of Egypt. They had heard Gods word for many, many years but were unable to enter into the promised land because of unbelief. (No faith)
- It is unbelief that will send you to hell, not the “bad” things we did in our lives.
- It’s not so much a struggle to believe more but the struggle to doubt less.
- You must believe that Jesus loves you. That changes every circumstance in our lives. If you can wrap both arms around that concept and embrace it and hold onto it, the circumstances will change because our perspective will be different.
- Jesus made a way for us through love when there was no other way. Just believe Him!
- Grab on to the truth of Gods word and use it to war against unbelief.
