- The chief priests sought to put Jesus to death because he raised Lazarus from the dead. They believed if the people followed Jesus that they would lose their power and position.
- He that loveth his life shall lose it, he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.
- Jesus knew His time was come.
- Jesus is the key to eternal life.
- Jesus’ soul was troubled because He knew what He had to do and was striving against sin to do what He came to do.
- Jesus was defeating the second death, through His death and resurrection.
