Subject:
- Colossians 1
- Paul states he is an apostle of Christ by the will of God, not man.
- In the same manner that God called those who walked with Christ, apostles, so was Paul called.
- Timotheus our brother, (“our” referring to the apostles of Jesus Christ). Including Timotheus as an apostle.
- Believing the gospel of Christ is what makes us saints.
- Faithful brethren: one who stands and walks true to the word of God.
- The grace is necessary with the gospel because we are sinners.
- God gave us a peace treaty through the cross of Christ, those who partake of that peace treaty are no longer at war with God.
- The love that the people of Colossi had toward the saints, is the evidence of that faith. They had a love for the body of Christ, so Paul and Timotheus lifted them up toward the Lord.
- Paul’s life was Christ. He joins himself with those who have heard and received.
- The Love is the evidence that they received the gospel.
- They were like the sea of Galilee, they received the Love of Christ and they gave it out. They didn’t set and get fat on it, keeping it to themselves.
- We all need to pray for one another because there is a vulnerability here on this earth.
- When brothers and sisters pray for you through trials, we may actually be able to feel their prayers and be strengthened by them.
- They’re faithful to God for the Hope that the people have now.
- The hope came to them because they heard the gospel and there is proof that they have received it.
- The gospel has come into all the world. It does bring fruit, but it doesn’t benefit anyone unless it is received.
- The word was brought rightly divided and the Colossians were a fruit of that.
- Love is a fruit of the Holy Spirit.
- It is not about us being perfect, we should stand in the grace.
- Just because we can quote scripture or heard it doesn’t mean we know it.
- We can be filled with knowledge but lack wisdom and understanding. It is in the Spirit not in the flesh.
- Sanctification is a process of time. Most don’t get everything all at once.
- Paul’s prayer for these people was to receive the things of the Lord, that they might walk worthy of the Lord.
- Our walk should not be based on what anyone said but only on the Word of God.
- That which we do or say should be to glorify God.
- The only way to increase in the knowledge of God is to walk in obedience.
- The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is available to us to strengthen us to do the will of God.
- Serving God is not a spirit of Martyrdom, it should be a joy!
- Longsuffering with joy is the way of Christ for others.
- It is God who has made us acceptable in Him! Being clothed in His righteousness we are able to enter in and partake.
- Jesus is light and we can partake of the light because of Him. Not in our flesh but in our mind.
- He did that which was necessary to accomplish it.
- Satan is the ruler of this world but through our faith in Christ we can overcome the world and be delivered from the darkness.
- We can then dwell in His body, in Light.
- When something is redeemed it’s like pawning a thing then going and buying it back. Jesus has bought back us by faith.
- Jesus is the image of the invisible God, he was a perfect representation of God in every way.
- Jesus had to die and be resurrected, He is the first born of every creature.
- All things were created by Jesus. He created spiritual dominions. There is a line of authority and delegations and it is for us to come into obedience.
- The Atom consists and maintains that stability, only by Jesus.
- Jesus was able to be resurrected because He was guilty of nothing.
- Partake of Jesus’ fullness by being a part of His healthy body by faith.
- The Lord created a perfect earth, the only way to enter back in the place where sin not longer has dominion over us is through the blood of the Lamb from the cross.
- The sacrifice given to Adam then Abel and on from there was a promise of the sacrifice to come.
- Everyone of us were alienated from God before receiving the gospel. Before Christ we were only evil continually.
- God will not receive an evil testimony from others.
- Satan comes before the throne of God accusing the saints.
- Keep the faith in the gospel and hope of the gospel. Walking in this flesh, we are aware we fall short.
- The creature that has been preached to is the seed of Adam.
- Paul’s whole life was to minister whatever the sufferings were, to the body of Christ, that they might actually continue in the faith being grounded and settled.
- All who walk in the love of God should do the same as Paul did with joy.
- If there is something we really want, we will do whatever it takes to get it, and it is all worth it.
- We need to have the right perspective and that right perspective is only found in Christ.
- What higher purpose in all the earth can we have, then to be called to minister Christ to the body and build it up. That is the call of the apostles. That was what Paul did. We should do likewise.
- Paul was set to teach the people so they could do it as well, Davy is set to do the same for the present body.
- God gave Paul that dispensation for the people.
- We are here to fulfill the will of God, we are to be partakers of His plan and that fulfills the will of God.
- Jesus preached the gospel to those in Abraham’s bosom.
- The gospel is for everyone, it has been opened and made available for everyone.
- God didn’t say anything He couldn’t perform.
- In all wisdom is the wisdom of God, they preached and warned men. We need to understand the importance of the things of God. We need those warnings, too often we find ourselves listening to the flesh.
- Perfect is in the faith of the gospel.
- The working of Jesus is Paul’s work or labor. He walked in what Jesus said because he believed God. His desire was to serve God faithfully.
- Love God with all our heart, mind, soul and strength.
