Subject:
- Walking in the Spirit.
- The Gifts of the Spirit, The Gift of Prophecy.
- Prophecy is in our own language, not spoke through tongues.
- To edify, meaning to build one another up in the body and in the faith. When we may not be standing in the right place to strengthen us to do so.
- Exhortation: treaty, when the word of God comes it entreats people into it and unto it actually to receive or believe it. It implores a person to partake.
- Comfort: if we hear and believe we have a mighty hope that transcend through everything else which is comforting.
- A prophet speaks the word of God for our benefit if we will receive it.
- A true prophet will always point you to Jesus. The prophecies will come to pass.
- If a prophet turns you away from Jesus Christ they are a false prophet and you are to have nothing to do with them.
- Then there is a presumptuous prophet who will prophesy but the prophesy does not come to pass. IT is out of excitement not out of discernment.
- Does the prophesy build you or another up or does it glorify the Lord?
- The prophesy is to build us up in Him and give us a hope and knowledge of God. Not to make us feel wonderful and great.
- We need to know the word of God and have a relationship with Jesus Christ so we can tell the difference.
- The true prophets give the word of God and we should take it as the word of God.
- We should know when the word is spoken to us that it is true.
- There is no reason to be led astray other than our own lusts and desires.
- A true example of a prophecy is available at A Vision of Two Revivals
- We know the end because it has been spoken by the prophets if we choose to receive it.
- It can also be something that will happen shortly to give us a chance to repent or do what is right.
- We can recognize true prophets but it doesn’t mean we are going to do what is told, we have got to have the true fear of the Lord.
- The proof of hearing that which the Lord gives us through prophecy can be the saving of a soul.
- Praise God that we have the grace and mercy and forgiveness from Him.
- Paul continued to serve God not withstanding his own short comings.
- Prophecy is spoken but it is also put into writing.
- The Apostles have all the gifts but are not specifically in everybody. It is given to a person who understands they are a part of the body that is there to serve. If you are a prophet you bring that utterance for the betterment of that person’s understand.
- They are a benefit for the body though it can benefit the prophet as well as encouragement.
- Prophecies are to be judged by other prophets not by just anyone.
- We submit to God’s line of authority because He has set it up for our own good.
- If we are going to serve God we have to let Him teach us Him. That comes through His line of authority.
- We serve a different kingdom and a different Lord, we are in a kingdom that Satan rules but he doesn’t rule us.
- We are here to call others into that kingdom not of this world.
- The Bible says covet to be a prophet.
- Pay attention, listen open our hearts and minds to what God has for you. A prophecy will never contradict the Word of God. The main thing is to learn the Word of God and do not be afraid to go to your authorities.
- Let us go to our authorities and be told we are wrong so we can turn from it into salvation and not stay wrong and go to hell.
- God will give you the things you need to complete your walk in Him.
- Every person has a different function in the body and we need to perform that which God has called us to do.
- We need to appreciate our brothers and sisters and what they do in the body. It is all important.
- Our dependency isn’t upon us it’s upon Jesus.
