Subject:
- The stories of two women in the bible who didn’t submit and rebelled against the Lord, and their ends is discussed.
- The story of Sapphira in Acts 5, and how she and her husband sold a possession and kept back part of the price, laid it at the apostles’ feet, and lied about how much it was sold for. She agreed with her husband in an act of pride to lie to the Holy Ghost. They thought they would get away with it. Sapphira should have not gone along with her husband because of his rebellion to the Lord. She gave in to the deceitfulness of sin. She had the choice of choosing right, or wrong. She chose the wrong side, and dropped dead, along with her husband.
- If we as wives choose to go against our husbands on a thing, make sure that it is truly against the word of God, not just because we don’t like it and don’t want to obey or submit to it.
- The story of Hagar, Abraham’s maid who was the mother of Ishmael. She lived in the household of faith (Abraham’s) and didn’t submit or humble herself. Instead she lifted herself up in pride because she thought herself better than Sarah because of Sarah’s barrenness. She left the household of the Lord and returned, but never submitted as she was asked to do, and was ultimately cast out of the household.
- We need to believe God. This is simple, but pride stops us. We need to humble ourselves and believe Him.
