Subject:
- This Psalm of David is one of despair and being overwhelmed.
- David makes the choice to trust the Lord. His hope is in God and His word and what is said. He is crying out to Him that his hope would be approved that he not be ashamed.
- God is righteous, and He has plainly declared what He asks of us.
- David is calling on God’s character.
- Ashamed is not meaning humiliation in public it’s a placing of trust in the Lord.
- We acknowledge our utter need of the Lord and stand in Him.
- When He accepts us there is no place for shame.
- The dependency because the way God made is completely sufficient, which is the blood of the Lamb.
- When we receive the Lord’s forgiveness we stand back up in Him, not in shame.
- Paul disobeyed in the presence of many people, but He stood up in God’s mercy and moved forward.
- David chose the Lord to be His Lord, completely dependent upon Him.
- David was under attack all the time, the Lord always delivered David.
- This Psalm should be our prayer as well, we have to choose God to be our Rock and strength. God is a safe and the ONLY right place to commit our spirit to.
- Jesus was the pattern for us to follow. He trusted and did the will of His Father.
- God is truth, He is worthy to trust in.
- David was looking to God to show up as He said He would.
- Not trusting in anything but the Lord! Hating the flesh and anything that would come against the Lord. God was there fore Him, He saw him, knew him and was there for him.
- The presence and prosperity were benefits from the Lord. He wasn’t shut up in the troubles.
- Calling on the Lord for mercy doesn’t mean we’ve done everything right or we’re good, we call upon the Lord’s help through His mercy. In that place we can be dependent upon God.
- David knows he isn’t worthy of the Lord’s love and protection. None of us are worthy of any thing good from the Lord. The only thing we are required to do is accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior.
- We are all vulnerable and do fall. God’s love and mercy is freely given to those that will receive it.
- David was alone surrounded by enemies who wanted to see him stumble. People will seek to take away the life we have in Christ Jesus.
- All the troubles David experienced, he sought the Lord in them to deliver him. His experiences were much more difficult then most of the things we deal with day to day yet do we seek the Lord in them?
- David set himself to know the truth and not let it go. He chose to be God’s bond servant, to put off his own will and do the Lord’s will. David wants the Lord’s favor and presence.
- Pray for God’s mercies that God be glorified, He shows up for that.
- Let the ones that come against the truth be ashamed.
- We need to be humble before the Lord, not to order or demand God to do a thing but humbly ask.
- The righteous are the righteous by faith, people hate that, they’ll come against you.
- We can’t even imagine the glory the Lord has for His servants who love Him.
- We need to have a right fear of the Lord as David did. Not a fear that you can’t come to him but a reverence.
- This is a story of faith, it shows what David sees but his hope is in what the Lord is able to do not the troubles around him.
- The Lord keeps those that fear Him. It may not be seen by others. They can’t be moved, He keeps them.
- How else could we pass through this life in faith if the Lord didn’t do such a thing? We should be those who though we dwell in the flesh naturally we walk in the spirit.
- David called upon the Lord’s kindness and the Lord was there. David cried unto Him by faith knowing the word, the truth and knew the Lord heard him.
- Be of good courage in Him and the Lord will strengthen your heart all ye that hope in the Lord. He will strengthen you heart so you can continue to serve Him, and stand in Him and grow in Him.
