Subject:

  • Fellowship is food for the soul.  Fellowship with others of a like mind in the faith is critical for growth in Christ and learning how to respond in situations.  Fellowship brings to light the things we don’t see in ourselves.
  • It can be easy to forget how good we have it and how good God is when we are focused on the hard times we are facing.  When things get tough it is an opportunity to trust God and grow in believing Him.  Often these are the times when we stop trusting Him and dwell in unbelief.  These are times to turn to those the Lord has sent to us to help us re-focus on the goodness of God.  We don’t feel like God is good when we are facing tribulations.  We need fellowship to break out of that unbelief because it is not likely we will do it ourselves.
  • It is very easy to get comfortable in routine.  The flesh likes routine because it doesn’t require any faith.  Routines keep us from stepping out into the unknown in faith and being willing to do Gods will and be ready to do it freely.  It is hard to develop faith in routines.
  • Love one another.  Putting others before ourselves in love is not natural in the flesh.  The flesh wants to be first.  We must choose against the flesh to do whats right in the spirit.  Too often we don’t because the truth is we are forgetful to do it and we are spiritually lazy.
  • Being carnally busy is contrary to being spiritually busy.  We get too busy in carnal things and our spiritual duties suffer for it.  In the Spirit Jesus offers rest from carnal work.
  • Believers are to be about Gods ways.  If we are about His ways we will look different to people because we are no longer about the world and it’s ways.  We are not to be as we once were before we turned to the Lord.
  • Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.  No one can figure out our salvation for us.  Neither can we do it for others.  Your salvation is between you and Jesus!  God can send others to us to help us understand what salvation is about but only Jesus died on the cross for us.  No one else did.  Your salvation must be between you and Jesus.
