Subject:

  • Jesus has, too often, been portrayed as passivise or weak because he was gentle and merciful with people.  Being merciful and gentle with people does not portray weakness.  Jesus was strong in standing in truth and standing against godlessness.  Being violent and a brawler is not how strength is shown.
  • Turning the other cheek is not a sign of weakness.  It doesn’t mean to stand there and let someone beat you.  It is an attitude that shows that the first slap did not move you.  It is a resistance of anger, and judgment.
  • Jesus tasted death for every man.  It was not a sign of weakness that Jesus laid down His life for us.  It was by His death that the power of the resurrection was manifest and made available to us through belief of the Gospel.  Jesus’ death on the cross was victory, not defeat.
  • Have the passion to serve the Lord and His people.
  • If there is a matter between you and a brother it ought to be settled among the saints.  As believers, we should not be taking disputes before secular judges and unbelievers.  Deal with the matter within the church.
  • God’s strength is made perfect in our weakness.  His grace is sufficient for us for all things we have problems overcoming.
  • Jesus’ life was not taken from Him.  He chose to lay His life down for us, even when He was being beaten, He did no harm to any man.  This was not weakness.  He refused to be moved by anger and emotions and showed the power, love and mercy of God.
  • People who don’t know the Lord need to be more important to you than yourself and more important than being concerned about what they might think of you.
