TFM-Northfield-VermontSpeakers:

  • Steve Atherton
  • Megan Atherton

Scriptures used:

  • Job 38-39
  • John 14:12-14
  • John 11:37-42

Subject:

  • When we think it’s all about us:  It’s good to remember who He is and what He has done, and remember it’s not about us.
  • Have we told the sun to rise on any day?  That is why we worship Him, because He does all this.
  • In history, when people prayed the Lord to send a tempest, He brought a storm for them because He brings wonders for them who serve Him.  He loves them.
  • Daniel in the lion’s den:  a good example of what the Lord will do for us if we serve Him.
  • For anything we have to deal with, He has power over it.
  • When we pray to the Lord for sickness, how do we pray?  Asking the Lord to help doesn’t get it done.  If you believe that the Lord has the power to tread on all the power of the enemy, now instead of saying Lord help me, (but that is ok to start with), you go into battle and confront the enemy.  You rebuke that enemy and trod it underfoot.  You go in the full armor of God and drive back that darkness.
  • The wicked and perverse generation that seeketh after a sign, that is unbelief.  If you do this or that Lord, I will believe.
  • The one who believes goes forth in that confidence and power of the Lord against the enemy.
  • Jesus was grieved with the disciples’ unbelief when Lazarus died.  Jesus groaned in himself because he was in a sea of unbelief.  They were blaming God.  They were just.
  • We have to come that place where we know that He hears us always. (John 11: 42)
  • Jesus knew that His Father had heard Him and He had confidence that He would raise Lazarus from the dead.  Notwithstanding all of their unbelief He moved and manifested the glory of God.
  • We all want people to think well of us, because it is all about us.  That’s our carnal nature we have to overcome.  He that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin.
  • Suffering in the flesh is denying your flesh.  That is all it is.
  • The carnal mind is in 100% rebellion to the Lord.  What are we going to do?  Believe that?  Are we going to give it any place?  Not only do we not want to give it place, but to go on the offensive against it.  We can’t confront these things with our natural mind because our natural mind is in agreement with the rebellion to the Lord.
  • What are we going to do?  Agree with these things or put them down?  We can’t give the nonsense any place.  Trying is not faith.  It’s just another word for when I fail I can blame someone else.
  • When we try and fail, we are really blaming God, but don’t acknowledge that we are doing that.
  • Accept nothing less than that victory.
  • Fighting against illness:  When I begin in a fight I’m trying and wondering if I’m going to win.  When you take off from wondering to not accepting wondering, and transition into I thank you Lord, and I know I have the victory in the name of Jesus.  The disciples had to go through that transition.  Then they were able to walk in that victory.
  • In that transition you have to get angry at those things that have held you back.
  • Pull out that Lion of Judah and get more forceful than ever and you are pleased to put down the enemy until he has no place in your life any more.  When you put down all doubt and unbelief and place your trust in the Lord, then you begin to walk in that victory and anything you ask, it shall be done, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
  • When you walk in that transition, the devils will tremble.
  • May the Lord give you wisdom in how to do this, and may you not give unbelief, doubt and fear any place in your life.  Pull out that sword of the spirit which is the Word of God, and walk forward with that shield of faith, and the devils can’t touch you.
